Yes!!! I do stuffed animals, and the first few I made I was fairly defensive over, kept on my shelf, etc. Fast forward to now, I spent 6 hours working on a ladybug, threw it into my preschool classroom and let the kiddos go ham with it. Pretty coasters! Remember drips (stains) are signs of love. I use very old dish towels that my mom embroidered. Yes, just for wiping water, but I use and love them everyday. They do have a few love marks, but they're not rotting in a storage box.

That’s a beautiful coaster set! It’s true - when you make something people often don’t realize how much work goes into it. I spent MONTHS knitting socks with fancy alpaca wool - and I kept them for myself!

@firegodessreiko3 ай бұрын
As you should! Lol
@firegodessreiko3 ай бұрын
@@satsumamoon it all boils down to yarn and needle size, pattern, skill and experience level and time you have available to actually sit and work on socks.......as well as the mental fortitude to knit on something as stab-your-eyes-out boring as sox.....of which I have none. I literally have a pair in one of my project bags that I've been "working on" for a few years. 😅
@lostcontrol19813 ай бұрын
@@satsumamoon - it’s the finest yarn I’ve ever used - almost like thread - and it’s an alpaca wool that’s just beautiful. I am using the thinnest double point knitting needles our local shop had - and I had to use 5 DP to fit all the tiny stitches on them. I also have never used double points before so it’s taken me a bit of learning. I also am a university professor so was knitting and marking assignments - so didn’t get to spend more than about an hour a day on them. I’ve made entire adult sized sweaters much faster - but then you’re using bigger 6mm sized needles and thicker yarn - so it knits up much faster. These little 1.5 mm needles are very thin.

Those coasters are absolutely gorgeous! I'm learning to crochet right now and to combat that fear at least somewhat, I am only using machine washable yarns (lucky for me, I also just love the way cotton feels on my skin) But also, something I try to keep in mind with any crochet project that is meant for use or wear: Stains and other signs of wear and tear are just proof that the item has been loved and appreciated, instead of wasting away in a closet never to be seen.
