I appreciated your warning on the opening screen. This card is so cursed

Have I misheard or is the amount of success needed to get the growth token never discussed ? Regarding the discussion around enemy management around 17:00, I am a fan of Occul lexicon (3), especially in "big hands" decks to get back the Blood rite fast.

Loved your review :) Matches my experience playing the sentient variant.

Wow, one of the most entertaining videos thanks to bad card design. I loved that Matt hadn’t seen the cards beforehand and was flabbergasted.

I feel like the Myconid should attach to a location. Then all of its effects should be specific to that location. It wouldnt fix all of the issues, but at least it would be more thematic.

Layer upon layer of bad design on this one, both in terms of balance and trivialising the spirit of the game with its repeatable fire and forget cancellation effects. Thematically it would have been great if the Myconid had some sort of push your luck/unstoppable growth mechanism (not least because constantly knocking the growth back down to zero also seems narratively incoherent) where the Myconid turned on you if you overused it. But you can't redesign the whole sorry mess from the ground up. Taboo wise, I think the obvious thing to do would be to make Uncanny Growth add X-2 growth, where X is the oversuccess, possibly requiring a skill card to be committed to the investigation attempt as an additional cost to play the card (feed me Seymore.) But that would still be quite a sad fix for great concept heavily misapplied.

Introduce a new keyword "Anti-Class" make it a card in every class but the printed one. Every other class gets this card. And Kate, because her science access is actually relevant now.

I don't think they have the brains to make this work out, but it''s a nice idea

Nate is fine. Matt and I played a game of Call of Cthulhu with him last weekend. He decided to step away from the reviews because he doesn't play the game that much anymore. Other priorities. He didn't feel comfortable reviewing cards that he didn't own and had not played.

@@TheWhispererinDarkness Aaah bummer. Glad to hear he's doing fine, but he is missed here. Hope he makes a comeback someday

Ever considered the base version with higher ed... now it gets even more cursed, because can nearly double your resources every two actions....
