For a general purpose dynamic / SM57 or 58 alternative, I've become a big fan of the Warm Audio WA-19 - their recreation of the classic AKG D19 from the 60's in case you don't know. A couple of standout added features for me are the rotating mechanical high-pass filter, and the side vents that help deal with plosives. To my ears, it's a dynamic that sounds more like a condenser with a vintage vibe - handles vocals and acoustic guitars really nicely, even as a stage mic. Also was good enough for Ringo's drum kit back in the day 🙂 Think they retail for around 200 USD. -Rob @ WI

Shit, id love to join the conversation, got a pilot episode showing next week in a cinema with a couple hundred people.... would love some advice on attending events where you meet everyone involved that you've been putting music to for the first time, i swear they're going to lynch me and i'm going to be running out of the theatre with the angry mod of scornful looks and scary emotions in my direction 😰
