I’m watching this because my wife found one of these outside someone’s house - they were giving it away! It had been played pretty hard and not looked after. Truss Rod nut is stripped but usable, nasty fret munch, dry finger board, crackly electronics and it was filthy. Frets levelled, crowned, polished, lemon oil on the board, contact cleaner on the electrics and general clean. It’s fantastic!

My first experience with p 90s was an Epiphone LP special 1 that was on sale for 90$ during a labor day sale at guitar center and I wasn't sure if I liked p90 pickups or not so I bought it. Ended up dropping it and the headstock snapped off.

I have 3 guitars with P90s. An Epiphone blueshawk, with soap bars, that plays and sounds really nice, mellow. I have a DIY JA kit from Harley Benton with the biggest P90s I’ve ever seen. That’s really spanky / twangy good for surf. Then I have a partscaster fitted with Vanson P90s, these are my favourite, they sound half way between a strat and a tele, and are generally my go to.

Great looking guitar, and demo, I'm thinking of getting one with the p90,s. They seem unique. Versatile sound. I had an original mustang years ago, it was a workhorse sounded like a strat. Love that color.

Sounded sweet clean and with the DS-1! I have P-90s in my JA-90 Tele. They're cool, but can be a handful with their high-output when you prefer lower-gain tones. I think that teaches you to ride the volume pot and there are myriad tones to be had by doing so.

I'm putting one Seymour Duncan P-Rail into neck pup on my old PRS SE. P-Rail has a P-90 coil next to a rail single coil, and both combined as humbucker. I'll be using Triple Shot rings which have tiny switches to choose between coils and phases. Looking forward to all the sounds it can make. I love your Sea Foam Green Mustang and the P-90 sounds great on the 24" scale which I was surprised! Something new to me, the 375K pots, but they seem to work well.

I have a Gibson Firebird Studio with P90's and it kicks ass. I have others guitars with P90's but the Gibson pickups are by far the best IMO. I also have a Epi with dogear P90's as well as a PRS baritone with 90's and a Reverend with a P90 in the neck and a HB in the bridge. I recently bought a J Mascis but that is a set of over wound Jazzmaster pickups with P90 characteristics but not P90's like some claim. Anyhoot, welcome to the P90 club.

I just got this Mustang 90 in Burgundy Mist Metallic a week ago and it's fantastic. I had the earlier model, a 2017, and the neck on this seems a bit more slender. I once had a '78 Mustang - the slider switches were a pain in the... I'd hit them with my hand and turn off the pickup. I never used the phase settings so this simpler configuration is definitely preferred, at least by me. Also, that '78 with its' 'Dynamic Vibrato' was almost impossible to keep in tune. If you bent a string then the other five went flat and if you broke a string the other five would launch into the Very Sharp Zone.

I got a squier bullet mustang for my anniversary last month and if anyone is interested it came with 250k pots even though it has humbuckers, also it has shielding paint even though it has humbuckers. I tried measuring the resistance but my readings didn't make sense. My meter shows 8 in the bridge 8 in the middle and 55 at the neck. I am very interested in getting a Fender Mustang after owning a squier version.

I tried the Mexican Mustang with single coils, the P90 and the American Performer. The P90 sounder better than all of them and was half the price of the American Performer.

I love Mustangs but what I don't like about these modern ones are that there is almost nothing about them that separates them from the Duo Sonic, and it being an actual Mustang. The original switching is not there so you lose the ability to get in and out of phase on both pickups, and which ever configuration you want, and it has no tremolo which was mainly what separated the Mustang from the Duo Sonic for example. Now if you only look at these modern Mustangs for what they are, then they are great guitars and nothing wrong with them. But to me, they don't feel like Mustangs anymore so I went with the Squier VM Mustang instead. I would probably get the Vintera if I was going for a Fender.

I just gotta Tagima Jazzmaster and it has genuine P90s in it, and they sound great and they're very hot. It will snarl and growl with the best of em. Oh and Tagima makes great guitars, if you've never heard if them check them out.

Is the neck a bit chunkier on this one than on your Player Series Tele and Strat? I know those are spec'd as having "modern C" shaped necks and this one is just called a C. So close to buying one of these.

Have you ever messed around with any 7,8 or 9 string extended range guitars are you open to try or use them, the reason I ask is I got a 8 string schecter and wow it's amazing I don't use it for djent crap or stuff like that I use for exploring music in different ways but just wondering if you ever use extended range guitars?

I've owned two of these. Both sounded amazing. The only small letdown is that they come with the import version of regular P90s, you usually find on Chinese guitars.

I wish Fender would match the colors of the pickup covers to the pickguards, at least for black and white pickguards. Note the pickup switch is white. Great to see a teardown to see inside.

Those saddles that are on it, I think are kinda of a new design so they are made that after adjust action those little screws that make the saddles go up n down are outa the way now with new design...

@@landonbailey just the saddles. And I could be wrong but they are shaped different than others ones older ones. I cant rember where I seen or heard that, but it's just the saddles. Notice how they have that high arch on em so the screws dont hit your hand when you play. I think I seen them on a stew mac video....

I bought one and it arrived yesterday. One problem, no P90 pickups. It looks like something went wrong at the factory and I ended up with a Seafoam Green Player Mustang instead. Not thrilled, but it's gotta be a rare colour that few exist of, so not a total loss I guess.

I am also a Player Series fan. I have the Tele, you and Shane had a lot to do with that selection, and a Strat. Love them!! This series for me is very very good for the money. I can't reach Custom Shop stuff so I am happy right here and plan to expand my Player guitars. I do have a Harley Benton CST-24T P90 and love that. My Epiphone Special with p90's is due in tomorrow so i will get a chance to try out some P90 pickups. Thanks for the video. This could be my 3rd Player......
