only disagreement is your point or theory of "the trash talk is bad". i would argue there would of been less ppv sales and numbers in views if 2020 to 2024 all the trash talkers and showmanship presser moments didnt happen and they were just bland and respectful. strickland/izzy/dricus, paddy, topuria, khamzat, even islam talkin trash more, colby etc. these only help the sport's publicity and hype. "what you like" is not the same as "what brings in more cash and viewership for the UFC". not quoting you just using the quotation marks to explain the idea. we dont have to like the trashiness of it, but the bragging, trash talk, exagerrating of beefs, drama, gets eyeballs and clicks from the casuals and make more ppl know about the fighters and fights in the first place. The Dricus vs Izzy trash talk hype added more eyeballs for sure to the fight.

In one version of 2025, you'll see Khabib return for another UFC fight, Jon Jones loses in a one sided fight to Stipe Miocic. The UFC forces Stipe to fight Tom Aspinall for the real title. And after making an epic return to KZbin, the UFC hires Lucas Tracy and also MMA Guru, to replace Jon Anik, Paul Felder, Michael Chiesa, Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier, and Dana White. Oh, and PPV prices finally go to the appropriate $20 per event, instead of being $85.

The problem is not really the fighters. Its the mismanagement from Dana White. He has done many things that have been a detriment to the company. (Trading DJ, Endorsing JJ, and lack luster cards)
@starseeddeluxe3 ай бұрын
I agree, Dana is ruining the UFC completely right now. There was a time when he did the right thing, but when he failed to make the Jon Jones vs. Ngannou fight, that's when he should have been fired. The Jon vs. Ngannou fight was the fight of the century, and it was the most important fight in UFC history, and somehow Dana chose to be stubborn, to refuse paying Jon a large payday, and to avoid giving Francis some freedom from restrictive contracts. Instead he chose to have Francis leave completely on bad terms, ruining one of the most historic and exciting fights in history. And now, Tom Aspinall's career is being destroyed through an even higher level of stubbornness and outright malice. Tom might be the best UFC fighter in the history of the company, and he's being treated like... Jon Jones was so annoyed with Dana that he actually hired one of the most powerful Mafia Gangsters (not really) named Richard. Richard is probably the reason that Dana suddenly, unexpectedly started praising Jon Jones. Dana's behavior is so irrational and so defensive that you can only assume that's he's being blackmailed. But even still, it's unacceptable behavior. Ruining the company, and Tom Aspinall's legendary career prime, are unforgivable, no matter what the circumstances.

I don’t think this is a golden era but regardless I do see this time period being a pretty damn good one for fighting.. I actually really appreciate how the public seems to be slowly gravitating away from the Connors and back to the Holloways whose fame came from being a humble badass who never fails to entertain.. seems like a lot of the new fans gained from Connor silly antics are starting to come around into being actual fight fans allowing room for the real fighters to shine through the murk.. I’m pretty optimistic and legitimately excited to see what the heavyweight division is gonna look like in a year, something that hasn’t happened in a while.. mate rankings dont mean anything, in theory you are right but in practice they give title shots either to guys they want to be champions or to guys that dont deserve them in order to give one more title def. for their prefered champ. And most matchups the fans want(ed) to see never happen because the UFC expects fighters to fight for a fraction of their worth. the UFC isnt what it was, currently its a shareholder revenue machine, and we sometimes get great fights as a result. Without Pereira, what memorable fights are there currently and consistently? HW is in shambles and doesnt have 5 quality fighters, LHW has 3 fun and quality fighters (Pereira,Blachowicz,Prochazka) with some hype jobs like Ankalaev, MW is so and so but definitely missing quality because Whittaker isnt in his prime anymore, nor are Cannonier, Adesanya etc. WW seems ok but also lacks actual depth, LW is stale because they protect their star names' rank but you rarely see matchups you want, FW got fucked by the Volkanovski-Holloway trilogy, BW seems to have the most quality and FLW personally I think was shit before and is shitter now but before you at least had Mighty Mouse. UFC (and other oganisations like ONE, KSW) are plagued by corruption, it is not a coincidence every card you see bullshit decisions and that the UFC is/was under investigation for corruption. Now the effects of their last 10 years, since the Ronda-McGregor are boiling over. Thats the problem with going mainstream, catering to a wide audience, political pressure, bigger corruption rings. I mean they terminated USADA because McGregor would pop😂. UFC has always been shady, but now it is shady and boring, would be even if it had 3 PPVs yearly or 40 PPVs/y .

The greatest myth about combative sports is that they're rich with "honor". I was 23 in 1998 back in Ontario, and I entered a grappling tournament called "Moni Aizik's Open," in Richmond Hill (Ontario). I went in as intermediate, and had two years of highschool wrestling and 6 months of basic BJJ. I won one and lost one, and was out. While I sat in the bleachers, I watched a match between a student of Moni and some catch wrestler from another club. The wrestler RAG DOLLED Moni's student, but they gave him the decision (for barely making it through the six minutes). The whole crowd booed - it was daylight robbery, and flagrant favoritism. That was the first time I saw a complete VOID of honor in martial arts - not knowing it would be an endless parade of examples. Martial Arts are not honorable - they're TRIBAL. MY CLUB - MY BUSINESS - MY BRAND are on the line, and I'll do anything to get ahead. The rare moment where fighters kneel and bow after fights don't whitewash the rest of it - trash talking about opponents' wives and children, and far worse. It could be a good thing to see this return to the years when it was struggling to stay alive.

ITS A SPORT NOT COCK FIGHTING
@carlruppert73243 ай бұрын
That's the most casual thing I've read in a while. The reason why so many fighters currently use wrestling is because it works. It's almost the standard right now, kind of the way BJJ used to be. And it will continue being that way until somebody finds a weakness in it and exploits it successfully. This is why this sport is so great, it's literally evolving constantly.

I Remember when fight nights use to be great events almost like mini ppv with absolute killers in the main event. Now they feel like cheap mma events. I hate the apex fights need a crowd.

The UFC needed to do the weekly fights to make themselves apart of the culture like the NBA and NFL. Hence the constant cards

the problem i see is that MMA isnt a sport in the classical sense! its more of an spectacle! f.e. in the NFL you dont get a title shot just because you are a fan favorite or certain games would bring the biggest revenue .. its because you earned it! in the UFC some guy have like 5 fight before they get a title shot while others have to fight 10 even 12 fights to get one .. plus .. its more than obvious that certain guys get favorable decision when it depends on the judges and its clear to see that the ufc controls that outcome as far as possible and still get away with. thats why dana can sit there an say stuff like: "i too think that strickland won" while in fact hes just happy im certain they have givin the win to DDP because sean is way to controversial for dana. and again .. its very obvious if you really wanna see it! all of that makes the ufc more to an spectacle than a real sport .. where you always get what you deserve for a win and no win depends on judges and their honesty!

Mma will never stop being a blood sport, ive gotten full into it but when i started was with a friend. I preferred boxing because it was actually an art in the good fights. Mma is bones snapping, knees in back of legs, dropping on the head, kicks in the head, and every other super nasty fight move thats available like jon Jones oblique kick. Mma by design is a blood sport, ffs its creation was a real life replica of the kumata which was a fake martial arts tournament in the 1980s movie called you guessed it blood sports.

I think there is a way to do both and that is by saving the top 15 or so in each division to just fight PPV and having the fight nights just for the guys and girls on the way up. Sure the fight nights gets way less interesting but for those that are die hard fans and want to se the next generation from there start will watch it while the fans that mostly watch the PPVs and want them to be insane and something you actually make plans to watch with friends will get that. I don't think that it's a perfect solution put right now we have a lot of cases where you just can't be asked to watch either sometimes cause there might just be 1 or 2 fights you wanna watch on the entire card.

There’s a lack of UFC stars because Dana keeps wanting to back who he wants instead of letting the stars happen organically. It’s sad their not capitalizing on Alex Pereira or giving him promos. Unfortunately everyone feels like they have to Conor or brash, but the down the earth fighters, (GSP, Oliveira, Poirier, DJ) are equally as intriguing. Actually the old Conor gained fans because of his artistic focus and mentality.

Dana makes me sick with his disgusting greed. The new owners are scum of the earth who would sell the sweat and blood of the fighters for a dime. UFC fighters get a free pension bonus upon retirement, CTE for life.

I had to check date on the video, 1 month ago. 2 months ago the stacked cards that make up end of the year for ufc only not even all fights which is extra stacked. If this video is covorring march to july in 2024 then yeah lackluster cards with mostly weak grudgs. Rest of the year, other 3/4s has been built up well and were good fights. Long as you watch 1 out of 4 fight nights most ppp are decent enough and some are amazing lineups. 300 hasnt even been a year and it along with 5 cards around it were all amazing.

For some reason we all pretend that the UFC is a sports league. It's a corporation. A corpse. A body without a soul.
@OK-yy6qz3 ай бұрын
I think there's 3 main reasons for this "fight Fatigue". 1: the rise of the MMA influencers. Especially KZbinrs. Nowadays you're bombarded with so much MMA content before the fight even happens. Posts, fight predictions,Rants,Memes etc. there's just so much content besides the 15-25 minutes of the fight you would normally watch (plus maybe an interview before and after) it makes it way more likely to just get overwhelmed and tired of UFC in general.I think this also makes people dislike fighters they normally wouldn't. If you're seeing posts and Videos on how Belal Sucks 24/7 you're going to think Belal Sucks. 2: there's too many fighters and too many meaningless fights. There's Fights between unranked fighters the average viewer doesn't know on nearly every event. There's also too many events, which makes truly good events more rare because good fights are spread between multiple events. That's partly why 300 had such a crazy reaction. Almost Every fight was seen as Meaningful since it was either part of a title run or a comeback (or attempt at one). And the fans knew the fighters as well. 3: The UFC has become too good and Too technical. Too standardized which leaves very little room for individuality in fighting styles. Almost everyone fights as 1 of 3 or 4 styles and looks very similar. They also do less mistakes which means less highlights. When a sport gets established like that it leaves little room for creativity and highlights
