The concept is terrific and I like being able to focus on the small scale. That said the battles are extremely clunky still. Also I don't know which trait causes me to duel and kill my commander after almost every battle, I've killed 3, but its annoying, hurting the war effort, costing me prestige and promotions.

This is the second one I have watched. Your grasp of tactics goes out the window once you have engaged the enemy. You become target fixated and it undoes your initial good work. Become a 'team' player, yes your team is AI, but look at the bigger picture.

You should look up how many casualties you dealt in the long battle. I'm quite curious.

Piece of advice. If you’re outnumbered or for instance only able to control a limited number of regiments. Always use skirmishes to act as another regiment. Especially if they have rifles as you can use th to flank and usually stay out of firing range and they get their own set of ammo that is separate from the main group Atleast that’s what it seems like. Using skirmishers to get that flanking shot debuff on the enemy is great. While they don’t do as much damage they also take less casualties aswell. I always use skirmishers if I can unless my regiments have atrophied severely. They have saved me many many times.

Moving up with the 3rd ME on your own initiative maybe saved that battle. If you hadn't, the Confederates probably pile into that flank from that bridge that you plugged.

The AI on this game appears to need a lot of work. My impression is you would be winning these battles if you were in overall command. When the rest of the army sits there doing nothing, you can't beat the ANV alone. Then it still seems weird that the night time seems to cause the whole thing to collapse.

In real life, there was a skirmish at camp hill 3 miles from Harrisburg on june 30th 1863 against the confederate cavalry and there is markers in Lemoyne across from Harrisburg of the earthworks the laborers placed there

I had this experience in my first game, 3 years guarding washington. I picked a different starting command and my second game now is on the 3rd battle in 3 months.

You have to get your brigade into a scenario where you aloan hold the line effectively and force back the enemy aginst the odds. Then call them the Gibraltar Brigade.

I love the concept of being responsible for only a small portion of the whole battle. Unfortunately by late video it seems pretty obvious the friendly AI just isn't up to the task of creating either a coherent plan or an engaging experience for the player until they force their way into controlling larger and larger groups of men. A shame.

Looks like they cranked up the prestige gain by quite a lot. So much that I wouldn't be surprised if they reduce it in the next update. It frankly seems a bit too easy to farm prestige by taking over units and having them just shoot at the enemy. Paying prestige to take over a unit in the heat of battle is something that should be exceptional and you only do when it can really make a difference.

tried it and refunded before hitting 2 hours on steam. good concept, poor execution. ill try it after some patches maybe but for now it aint worth the price in my opinion
