Golf just got added. You need a gigantic plot of land with a lot of expensive maintenance to play golf. You need a mudpit, mat or any other 10x10 plot of land to do wrestling, but since the people who like golf are rich and have a lot of money to lobby, It’s an olympic sport now 🤡🤡

traditional wrestling of india is so inspiring... to be honest, i view it more as a martial art.. the guys come in young, train everday, be disciplined in valuing the mud.. eat only what is healthy.. and pray as if your life depended on it... and may the gods be with you on the mats.. i just love indian wrestling
@paulocuento99495 жыл бұрын
@kb theres actually a government initiative now to produce more Olympic level wrestlers.. the video shown above is a form of traditional wrestling (much like how africa, mongolia and dagestan), it has different rules and practice as modern wrestling.. more of a cultural practice modern day elite level wrestling prioritizes science over tradition.. they practice olympic rules at a young age, use statistical data analysis to assess athlete performance, scientific nutrition and weight-cutting techniques, injury rehab, equipment, and most importantly "athletes getting paid" to ease financial burden to their families and just focus on training ..these are important factors considered when making olympic athletes

@kb i think you don't know about Fogat sisters, Sushil kumar, Yogeshwar dutt, these are just names of few.
@rahulmitra61715 жыл бұрын
@kb Was just thinking about that while watching this...There could be two reasons a) Indian parents mentality is that if you can afford it, get your kids an education and put everything into it (leaving no room to dedicate yourself to anything else). As a result only those who don't have a lot of options and see sports as a way out of poverty dedicate themselves to it. . b) Second big reason I think is that our wrestling is traditional, the skills, the coaches and the mass participation is in villages and in these mud akharas....even the rules are different to Greco-roman wrestling...a number of kids who dedicate themselves find it hard to adjust to mats after foundational years following a different system...so yes, we do produce world class wrestlers...but they are for a different system and the system, the rules and the dynamics/techniques of mat wrestling in international competition is different....Imagine if wrestling in akharas became standard tomorrow...who do you think would win the medals?

Im from Bengal. When my father got transferred to Haryana. I joined Akhada because I was always a weak guy. In a little more than 1 year I gained 26kg of muscle from 42kg to 68kg. The same thing i could never do in a gym. I became very strong and disciplined. Fell in love with wrestling. Now I have a stable business and though I have quit wrestling, I sponsor 3 wrestlers. All three are very promising. *I'M ALSO COMMITTED TO RECONSTRUCT MUSTHI YUDDHA* (The ancient art of fist fighting, that gave birth to Lithwei, muay thai, muay kao, muay lao, pradal sarrey, and many other popular fight styles today) THAT HAS BECOME LOST TO TIME DUE TO COLONIZATION. The Olympics are as dirty as it gets.. The olympics generates billions in revenue and pay the Athletes Nothing
@jakewilliams57445 жыл бұрын
The Olympic games generally make about 5 billion dollars in revenue, while the costs of actually hosting the event usually exceeds 20 billion. Cities usually choose to host the Olympics as a long term investment to bring in tourists or to stir up economic growth. Also, Olympic athletes do get payed. In the United States, you got paid around 35,000 dollars per gold medal you bring in, and you can also have sponsors that provide additional monetary support.

Pakistan, India and the rest of South Asia should hold its own Pehlwani competition. If the Japanese can retain the tradition of Sumo wrestling in the face of Westernization, I think we should also make an effort to revive this sport and make it profitable for the contestants and organizers. We could have national 'Rustams' as well as a free category where anyone could compete from anywhere in the subcontinent. Make it respectable and a bit glamourous.
