I’m an old guy (over 50) and when I was in school the thought of even coming out to a friend was unthinkable. To see this story (I’ve seen the movie 4 times already) has been so uplifting and important. We can’t forget how far we have come and how much further we have to go

I love how Katherine is like “hmm” , “hmmm” constantly. Like she’s totally understanding and feeling what the interviewer is telling them. She just seems very concerned herself #alwaysthinkingsheshellagay 😂🏳️🌈

She seems to have Bi sexual vibe. Always seems to be loving around both genders.

This is so AMAZING, DOUG!!! I feel such a connection with the cast, they’re all so humble and kind, it makes it that much easier to love the movie when the actors and actresses are just as sincere and genuine as their characters. I’m very happy for you and this opportunity you were given!!

I think you echo what a lot of us would say about wishing our teenage selves could’ve seen this movie. In my case it wouldn’t have changed the situation I was in that made coming out seem impossible, but just to have been validated and represented would have meant the world.

I'm 70 years old. I have been active in San Francisco's LGBTQ community since I moved here in 1979. I would've loved to have seen a film like this when I was a teenager, but that was a different time. I am overjoyed, though, at the reception for this film. There are still kids who are coming out and deserve the support "Love, Simon" can give.

I am a current bi teenager, and this movie means so so much to me and all of my friends. We haven't felt represented and now we are starting to be. I watched this movie with my mom and it was so empowering for me to watch a movie about someone like me with my mom, who 110% supports me in every way. (I live in the US so it's been out for a while) My mom is so much like Simon's mom, and I really can't put it into words how loved, accepted, and represented I felt in that moment. 15/10 would recommend this movie and the soundtrack is topnotch

Doug Armstrong Haha yeah I adore it and I could watch it over and over and still smile and cry so much. Also the end of this interview had me all teary eyed as I think my nan would've also loved to have seen this movie if she was still around. It's incredible and respect to you and Greg the director for talking so openly about something so personal. You're right we are very lucky to have a film like this FINALLY here's to hopefully many more like it! :)
@SUPERSTUDIO176 жыл бұрын
I think Greg perfectly summarized that feeling I've been having some difficulty conveying when I watched the movie in a crowded theatre with so many different types of people (old, young, straight bros, families, etc): "It's validating to see it with a crowd."

I am so hyped for this film, I only found out about it last Friday and it's been one of the slowest weeks of my life waiting for it to come out, and like you, Greg, and so many other people, I am so happy and glad that a film this important has finally been made, and to be educational as well as entertaining I think is so important. Lucky you for getting a background part Doug, I'll be pointing you out to my friends when I see it lol. I have a question that I'm hoping you'll be able to answer, but don't worry if you can't, is the film dedicated to Greg's Mum or did she pass after it was finished being produced? Also sorry about your Dad, but I'm sure that all those people who aren't able to see the film would love it just as much as we all do. Thanks :)

Emmet Sanders aww, Ive been to zambo, sa city? Or sa provinces? Usually SM, Ayala malls lang talaga nagshoshow ang mga lgbt films. Independent malls like mindpro, hindi ko alam. If its not there for a week, then I guess di talaga siya showing diyan. Just wait for the dvd nalang or stream it.

@WHAATEVEN6 жыл бұрын
Is the actor also gay? If not it’s kind of a let down because they could’ve cast a gay actor who has experienced and relates to the issues raised. Idk man
@doug6 жыл бұрын
No but the director is gay and so many lgbt people were involved in the film, from many crew on set to all the musicians on the soundtrack... so personally doesn't bother me in the slightest! (plus the character from the book is described as not being camp, so I think Nick was a great choice)
