FYI there has been an upgrade with CT scanners at airports. You no longer need to take your computer and 100ml liquids out of your carry on but the downside is the x-rays are stronger and they WILL affect all film. I contacted two airports and they confirmed this as fact. All film must be hand checked. Some airports even have a sign suggesting a manual check. Any information on KZbin or Google that says it is OK is out of date. The x-rays fog the film like the Northern Lights. Good luck purchasing film at your destination... Cheers!

Depends on which scanners that particular airport has

@@dedclownsRfunny Correct. However, it's a bit late once it's gone through the scanner because someone who knows nothing about film said it was OK. You won't find out until you get home to develop the film ..

I passed through Birmingham airport in May this year, I had to put through my film SLR (loaded with HP5) through their new CT scanner. They insisted that all electrical items had to go through no matter what, and asked me to open the camera and remove the film! They inspected my bag of film by hand, but the camera went through and I was expecting the film to be totally ruined - but there was no damage. No damage at all. They even told me that the film would be "mostly ruined" but everything came out ok. They recommended that next time I wait until I have gone through security control before loading any camera with film.

@@Answersonapostcard Good to know. It all seems random and to trust all the film for an expensive holiday on an assumption that it will be Ok is a risk (for me) too scary to take.

Great video that really summarizes things for those who want to take film on vacation but dont know where to start. I was a big pentax user early on in my film photography career and think they are fantastic especially now that a lot of popular options are no longer budget for many people. Looking forward to more videos!

@4:25, the video switched to (just) a photographers guide, unrelated to film. More traveling tips: 1. Don't leave film in a camera. Some Gen Z security (Costa Rica) may decide hand inspection means opening up your camera to see what a film camera is. Or they don't want to be liable for breaking your camera so insist on sending it through the machine (Heathrow). 2. Some airports' security (Taiwan, Japan) will open and hand inspect EVERY 35mm canister, and make you take them out of their boxes. You will be waiting a long time for them to go thru your 40 canisters (if you survive the angry mob behind you). They may make you take the 120s out of their foils. 3. Don't assume a camera store clerk understands what you are sending in. I have one in Tokyo (politely) insisting on E-6 processing my LomoChrome Metropolis because she saw the word Chrome. I kept pointing to the C-41 on the label to no avail. And they sold the film on another floor.

God forbid film photographers actually know how to take photos! But nice tips, thanks for adding them in 👍

I came to say nice video but damn you're salty in these comments. Relax bro, you still have lots to learn, listen to your audience and take notes instead of arguing with people that took the time to watch your fledgling channel.

Videos like this made K1000 cost like a TV set. Why not MX? It's a far better device for less money.

Oh aye my video with 1,000 views. There are a tonne more K1000s available and they’re more reliable than the MX. You can get a K1000 for like £100
