In support of people(at least some) taking part in the judgment are verses 41&42 in Matthew chapter 12: "The men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation at the judgment, and will condemn i..." and "The Queen of the South will rise up with this generation at the judgment and will condemn it..."

In my judgment, the believers are not exempt from being judged according to their works. Tracing the thread of the book of works, you referenced Ecclesiastes 12 v13, 14 and Romans 2 v15, 16. Unlike your interpretation, these passages show that the people who are judged by their works are not all condemned to the lake of fire. In both passages, it talks about whether "good or evil". It does not mention that you have to be perfectly holy. The implication is that there are those who will be rewarded for their good. 34:02 The context of Romans 2 is 6 He will render to each one according to his works: 7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 8 but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. 9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good There are those who are rendered glory, honor, and peace according to their good works. So not all who are judged in this context are going to the lake of fire. Jesus also warned the disciples, those who believe, that they will be judged by their works. Check for instance Matthew 16 when Peter was rebuked. 26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Notice that the result is forfeiting your soul. Jesus did not mean it to be a matter of just rewards. It is a matter of eternal life or eternal condemnation.

I agree, believers will be judged for their works, but genuine believers do not face condemnation (Romans 8:1). If we're not judged with condemnation in view, then only reward (or lack of it) is in view. This accords with Paul's description of our judgment in 1 Cor 3: "If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire." Jesus gives warnings to all who profess to belong to Him, whether they truly know him or not (Matt 7:21-23, 25:11-12). I'm not especially dogmatic about this, but as I mentioned in the teaching, it's the dead that are appearing before the Great White Throne at the end of the Millennial Kingdom. Those who died in Christ throughout the ages were raised to life at Jesus return at the beginning of the 1000 years. So it would not appear that resurrected believers are standing before the Great White Throne, because we're alive, not dead. This is unless you're not pre-mil, in which case, we're having a different conversation.

@@gabecaliguiri Well, I believe that the believers' genuineness of their faith will be judged by their works. So, the book of works will be used to provide justification as to why a believer's name is written on the book of life and why another's name is not. The book of works and the book of life will probably work in conjunction to bring out the full sentencing of the dead. Now, you said, "Those who died in Christ throughout the ages were raised to life at Jesus return at the beginning of the 1000 years." Doesn't verse Rev 20 v4 refer to specific group of people in the End Times just before the Second Coming? Why would you lump all faithful believers with this group instead of just pointing to the group in Rev 13 and 14. Now, I am not dogmatic about this either. However, I think it is also more natural to read Rev 20 v15 as meaning those whose names are written on the book of life are not thrown into the lake of fire and those whose name are not written on it are thrown into it. In other words, some of those who participate in the second resurrection will not be thrown into the lake of fire.

@@samkim7892 Good works prove our faith but they do not save us. That's an important distinction. If what you're saying is true, how many good works and bad works do I need for my salvation to be justified in the Book of Life? If I'm a former prostitute or murderer, do I have to perform extra good works to prove my faith? Our names are written in the Book of life from the foundation of the world (Rev 13:8), and our works will bear that out, not the opposite. If you saw my previous session on Rev 20:1-4, the Book has believers who overcame the Beast in view, but that doesn't limit the first resurrection to just them. 1 Thes 4 make it clear that Jesus raises "the dead in Christ" at his return. But either way, there are believers who are alive at the end of the 1000 years who are not among the dead who are raised for the White Thone Judgement. It does not appear that everyone stands before it.

@@gabecaliguiri Revelation 13:8, along with other mentions of the book of life, does not specify how names are recorded in the book. Calvinists interpret this passage to mean that God predestines certain individuals for salvation, recording their names accordingly. However, the text itself does not explicitly explain the criteria for names being included. The passage remains silent on the reason behind a person's inclusion in the book, contrary to the Calvinist view that it is a result of God's unilateral decision. To understand the basis for names being added to or excluded from the book of life, one must look beyond this specific passage and explore other biblical texts. So are there verses that indicate that one's name can be blotted out from the book of life? Exodus 32v 32-33 "But now, if you will forgive their sin-but if not, please blot me out of the book that you have written.” But the LORD said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot out of my book." Psalm 69 v28 "Let them be blotted out of the book of the living; let them not be enrolled among the righteous." Revelation 3 v5 "The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels." Revelation 22 v19 "And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book." Also, referring to most of the Israelites who perished in the wilderness in sin, Paul wrote, 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified (adokimos). 1 For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” 8 We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. 9 We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, 10 nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. 11 Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. 12 Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. Please check yourself in what context adokimos is used in the NT: Romans 1v28: "And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased (ἀδόκιμος) mind to do what ought not to be done." Meaning: Here, "ἀδόκιμος" is used to describe a mind that is rejected or worthless because it does not retain God in its knowledge, leading to improper actions. 2 Corinthians 13v5-7: "Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?-unless indeed you fail to meet the test (ἀδόκιμος)! I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test (ἀδόκιμος). But we pray to God that you may not do wrong-not that we may appear to have met the test (δόκιμος), but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed." Meaning: In these verses, "ἀδόκιμος" is used to indicate failing to meet the test or being disqualified, implying a lack of genuine faith or moral failure. 2 Timothy 3v8: "Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified (ἀδόκιμος) regarding the faith." Meaning: This usage denotes being rejected or unfit regarding faith, showing a moral and spiritual failure. Titus 1v16: "They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit (ἀδόκιμος) for any good work." Meaning: Here, "ἀδόκιμος" describes being unfit or disqualified for any good work, highlighting a disconnect between professed belief and actual behavior. Hebrews 6v8: "But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless (ἀδόκιμος) and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned." Meaning: This passage uses "ἀδόκιμος" to describe something worthless or rejected, often interpreted in the context of spiritual barrenness. Meaning and Usage Based on these instances, "ἀδόκιμος" generally means: Not approved, not meeting the test. Rejected or disqualified. Unfit or worthless in moral or spiritual context. The word often implies a failure to live up to a standard, whether in terms of faith, morality, or usefulness. It conveys the idea of being tested and found wanting, thus being rejected or deemed unworthy.

1. **Proverbs 25v4 (LXX)**: "Take away the dross from the silver, and there comes forth a vessel for the refiner." - **Meaning**: Here, "ἀδόκιμος" is translated as "dross" or "impurity," implying something that is unfit or impure. The verse metaphorically speaks about removing impurities to create something valuable, aligning with the concept of rejecting what is worthless. 2. **Jeremiah 6v30 (LXX)**: "Rejected silver they are called, for the Lord has rejected them." - **Meaning**: In this context, "ἀδόκιμος" is used to describe silver that has been rejected, symbolizing people who are considered unworthy or rejected by God. It highlights the idea of being tested and found wanting, thus being discarded. In both instances in the Septuagint, "ἀδόκιμος" conveys the idea of something being impure, unfit, or rejected after testing. This aligns with its use in the New Testament, where it denotes failing to meet a standard and thus being disqualified or rejected. The consistent theme is one of impurity and worthlessness in a moral or spiritual sense, leading to rejection. The usage in Proverbs 25:4 focuses on the process of purification, where impurities (ἀδόκιμος) are removed to achieve a refined and valuable product. In Jeremiah 6:30, the term is applied to people, emphasizing divine rejection due to their failure to meet God's standards. By understanding these contexts, we see a clear picture of "ἀδόκιμος" as representing what is rejected and considered unworthy, whether in a metaphorical sense (like impurities in silver) or in a direct moral and spiritual sense (like the people rejected by God). In Proverbs 25v4 and Jeremiah 6v30 in the Septuagint, the Greek word "ἀδόκιμος" (adokimos) translates the Hebrew word "סִיגִים" (sigim) and "מָאָס" (ma'as), respectively. ### Proverbs 25v4 The Hebrew word "סִיגִים" (sigim) translates to "dross" in English, referring to impurities that are removed during the refining process of metals. This word is used to describe something that is considered impure and unfit. ### Jeremiah 6v30 The Hebrew word "מָאָס" (ma'as) means "to reject" or "to despise." In this context, it signifies something or someone that has been rejected or deemed worthless. ### Instances and Analysis of "סִיגִים" (sigim) 1. **Proverbs 25v4**: "Take away the dross from the silver, and there comes forth a vessel for the refiner." - Here, "סִיגִים" represents impurities that need to be removed to produce a pure and valuable product. The term symbolizes what is worthless and must be discarded. 2. **Ezekiel 22v18**: "Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to me; all of them are bronze and tin and iron and lead in the furnace; they are dross of silver." - In this verse, "סִיגִים" is used metaphorically to describe the people of Israel as impurities, emphasizing their moral and spiritual corruption. They are likened to worthless dross that needs to be purified. ### Instances and Analysis of "מָאָס" (ma'as) 1. **1 Samuel 15v23**: "For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has also rejected you from being king." - Here, "מָאָס" is used to describe God's rejection of Saul as king because of his disobedience. It signifies a strong disapproval and rejection. 2. **Hosea 4v6**: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me." - In this verse, "מָאַסְתָּ" (ma'asta) is used to indicate the people's rejection of knowledge and God's consequent rejection of them from priesthood. It highlights the reciprocal nature of rejection based on disobedience. ### Summary The Hebrew words "סִיגִים" (sigim) and "מָאַס" (ma'as) used in Proverbs 25:4 and Jeremiah 6:30, respectively, convey the concept of being impure, unfit, or rejected. "סִיגִים" emphasizes the need for purification by removing impurities, while "מָאַס" focuses on the act of rejection due to unworthiness or disobedience. Both terms align with the Greek "ἀδόκιμος" (adokimos) in indicating something that is tested and found wanting, thus being discarded or rejected.

Great session, Gabe. Something you said made me think of these two passages: Hebrews 4: 12For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. John 12:47If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.

Thanks for the teaching. It feels like there is a contradiction to say Christ followers are not at the white throne judgement, but then they're the ones in the Book of Life, which is clearly the ultimate measure within the judgments. I agree that the white throne judgment is not for Christ followers. The second death has no power over them and followers covered by the blood of the Lamb aren't going to receive a judgement of fire and torment based on "deeds". I would like to invite you and anyone reading my post to understand there is a difference between the Book of Life and the "Lamb's" Book of Life. Both from the foundation of the world. Never in scripture is anyone's name added to the Book of Life. Rather all of humanity from creation until the end of ages have their name in the Book of Life from the beginning. Only names can be removed. And those are the wicked and who are part of the kingdom of Satan. Jesus is the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world. Even the unbelieving. They won't be thrown into the fire, but they will have eternal shame and never come to the Father. Those who accept the Lamb are added to the Lamb's Book. They will be able to come to the Father. Revelation 21-22 says only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book can enter the New Jerusalem. Outside are the unclean dogs and sinners in fire. Remember Daniel 12 is concerning Daniel's people. People who are part of covenant 1.0. So some rise to shame. It doesn't say torment. Ezekiel 44 says Levite Priests who wavered in their ways with God will be present to handle the duties of the millennial temple, but they will be out of the presence of the Lord. So in Daniel some rise to shame, some to the sky/heavens, and some will shine bright like the stars. Stars represent heavenly beings throughout scripture. Now clearly Daniel 12 is the first resurrection and not Judgment day. But this shows how there are varying judgments and rewards. In Matt 6, Jesus teaching on anger/hate, He says brothers can go to "Gahanna" if not reconciled. But they can get out of the prison of Gahanna after every penny is paid. So they get out and come to the Father, no! The valley of Gahanna had fire but was also the location were the unclean were camped. The poor and lepers. The imagery is in the valley there is fire and the unclean. And Jerusalem and those who dwelled their were holy. The same imagery we get in Rev 21-22. The anointed ones enter the Holy City, the New Jerusalem. And outside are those who are unclean and those in the fire.

JUST AN OPINION: I also think one of the “books” at the Great White Throne could possibly be “the Book of the Law”. Paul mentions that the Law declares all humanity “guilty before God.” (Romans 3:19) Also, Paul mentions in Galatians “it is written, Cursed be everyone who does not do all things written in the BOOK OF THE LAW to do them.” (Galatians 3:19) We also know that the purpose of the Law was to tell us what sin is (Romans 3:20) & to point us to a Savior (Christ). The people at the GWT Judgment never came to Christ, and will be judged by the Book of the Law… which declares them guilty before God. And also the Book of Recorded Deeds.

If the whole world will worship the Beast Rev 3:10; 13:8, but one-third will be cut-off and die Zec 13:8, 9, from a fourth of the earth that the Beast has authority over Rev 6:7, 8. If the Greek word translated to "death" in the English means something other than what you say, you are not correct. God said what He meant, and He meant what He said. Thank you, I came here to say this. The idea that the wicked somehow have to be resurrected with imperishable bodies so that they can burn forever is simply horrific. For centuries, we have wrongfully believed that “human souls are eternal.” The Bible never says this. The devil’s first lie is “you won’t die.” It is still believed by most of the world, who interpret “die” as “never die.” For whosoever believes in Him will not perish (Greek word apollumi, meaning absolute destruction). How can “perish” actually be understood as “never perish”? Why would John even use that word if it wasn’t true? What if Yahweh is more merciful than we thought, even to His enemies, by allowing them to perish? But we continue to cling to the Greco-Roman mythology that has unbelievers exsisting forever in some dark and burning (a contradiction in itself) netherworld.
