My guess is that flagpole glitch exists because there was probably a bug during development that would make Mario slide through the floor and die if he grabbed the flagpole in a certain way. They likely added a failsafe to skip the flag lowering scene if Mario went below the pole. Then later on the bug ended up getting fixed but the failsafe was left in.

@@wfjhDUI A world record run usually doesn't happen on the first run of the day. You'll sit down and do several attempts in a row. His heart rate at the start of this run is not a normal, sitting, resting heart rate, but rather that of the previous run where something unexpected happened, losing him the possibility of the record. When that happens, you don't wait for your heart rate to calm down (not every time, at least), you just hit reset and try again.

I think the reason why framerules are a thing is actually a bit different than you described. As far as I know, SMB just has a global timer, wich decrements every 21 frames. That timer is used for multiple things, such as RNG, and also to time the small pause befor the black level-end screen, as well as the duration it is up. So those things can only last a multiple of 21 frames.
@paulstelian975 жыл бұрын
Do you know anyone who disassembled the game and actually checked which of these is true?
@toboterxp81555 жыл бұрын
@@paulstelian97 I just checked the disassembly. Smb has a standardized system for Timers. These timers will either decrement every frame or every 21st frame, depending on the timer (the 21 frame rythm is unchanging from game start ). These long-term timers include the level-end and the black-screen timer. The RNG actually just changes every frame, and the perfect timing makes it consistent.
