The FINAL PUSH to MOVE IN

It’s hard to imagine our house without an OSB subfloor.
We’ve walked into our house now for 3 years and looked at the subfloor. We’ve even joked that we should just epoxy over the OSB and leave them forever, but the we decided that maybe we should go for some real deal flooring.
Now, it’s time to make this transformation happen. We’ll go from subfloor to finished floor and the transformation is AMAZING!

And now a little back story on us, in case you just found us on KZbin. We’re Sara and Ryan. We are your average suburban family, but 10 years ago, we purchased a raw piece of land in the Hood Canal in Washington. We’ve been developing this piece of property slowly, and this year we knew it was time to go all in. So we purchased a log cabin kit home and decided that 2020 would be the year we built a house on our property. We plan to build this cabin (as much as we can) on our own.
Unfortunately, some unforeseen events in 2020 that were completely out of our hands put a delay on our cabin kit being produced and delivered in the time frame we had originally planned. While we could have just waited it out and pushed back starting on the build of our home, we decided to shift gears and change our course for the time being. We purchased a 30 foot yurt, and will be setting it up as additional living space when we begin to build our cabin.
In the summer of 2021, we FINALLY moved to the Hood Canal so we could start the build of our future home. While we are building our home, we are living in a camper trailer and the yurt that we built in the summer of 2020. We hope to have our cabin kit home built by the end of 2023. Just my husband and I are building the house. We get help here and there from friends along the way and we do plan to get help on the roof but other than that we are doing it all on our own.

We like to hear this. As we've moved in items a few scratches have happened but everything has been VERY minor and is NOT even noticeable. It's kind of inevitable with a larger dog and two teens.

I was going to ask if you left a gap for seasonal moment but I saw that someone already asked. Good that you did! What are you guys planning for the molding? When I did my house I went with matching molding and it turned out great. Love the progress guys!!!

The local PUD had alerted us that they were working on a fix with a short time estimation. When it's a quick one like that it's not really worth the effort of connecting it all, but when we know it will be out for a while, we definitely us it.

It is a pressed bamboo product we got from HD. We already have a backup generator. We just knew the power was only going to be out for around an our so we didn’t go through the trouble.

Great work on the flooring. One query tho - are you leaving an expansion gap as the floor meets the walls? Only asking as I know wood expands and contracts seasonally and I’m aware of a relative who didn’t leave any gap and ended up with a bowed floor that had to be redone.
