Dude, I was burnt the fuck out. Did almost nothing for into the light, and i didn't even do the pantheon. But when I played the new campaign, it was such a breath of fresh air. As a solo legendary player, some encounters were actually pretty tough. Nothing felt like a drag, repetitive, etc. (apart from all the times I died). The pale heart is full of different things to do in every area. There's definitely more to say, so I highly recommend playing.

I had felt that the Witness was afraid since Lightfall when it was admonishing Calus for his “failures” and snapping at him when he snapped back. As well as what Asa told us in Season of the Deep of the Witness’ origins, showing it didn’t just hate the Traveler, deep down, it was *AFRAID* because it didn’t get the answers it wanted when it was one being, so it needed to “give purpose” to be able to feel like it mattered, thus came the idea of the Final Shape- calcifying the universe into a “perfect” state where nothing happens ever.

That opening scene showing the city all finalised sets the tone and stakes perfectly. The planet being remade and then the casual pan to the Traveler just sitting there. You'd expect it to be corrupted or twisted as its light reshapes the world but no. For a few suspenseful seconds we just look at it as it has been all year, just hanging there exactly the same as the universe changes. And then we go inside, then we see it fight back, the witness commenting on its resistance, and Mara reiterating the stakes. Fantastic drama

Many players didn't complete any raid (including me) because toxic players who order your loadout like for example: _Lunar Warlock or GTFO_ They could make a challenging campaign boss Witness with NPCs like Zavala helping you or something. It just takes the feeling away of "You're the chosen guardian". I mean the Savathun boss fight was also a campaign mission and it was good. Let all the toxic raiders be hating, they just say trash like _skill issue_ or something. I carried my two friends in almost every dungeon, until I stopped playing after Lightfall. All these raiding sh¡t annoys me and every fckng season repeat PvP which I just despite doing and missing good weapons and so on I'm sick of playing. Maybe if they make everything obtainable for everyone I return playing otherwise I'm done and just watch story videos.

I was actually thinking about this too, the illustrative cutscenes do seem on the cheaper end and I wonder why they opted to use them in a yearly expansion campaign. Live action cutscenes should have been the standard.

Long rant ahead (and spoilers, but you are on a spoiler heavy video so you obviously know what you're getting into) So, this is it, the culmination of 10 YEARS of Destiny... And it is mid. This doesn't feel like the climactic end of a saga a decade in the making, it just feels like another torturous extension of a product that's only spiralling downwards as time goes on. TFS relied pretty much mostly on memberberries as its spectacle. "Ooh! Ooh! 'Member the bridge you woke up in?" But what I wanna talk about more than anything is this; Bungie explicitly told us this is OUR story, the Guardians, our player characters, and instead of developing us as a character, bonding with Ghost or, y'know, WORKING TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE, we instead got to experience Zavala angsting for no particular reason even despite him moving past his trauma in Season of The Haunted, TFS literally walked back Zavala's character development JUST so they could tell the story again, because that's what Destiny is, a narrative Ourobourous cannibalising itself to squeeze out another product. Ok so let's actually dissect WHY Zavala is suddenly angsting; Apparently, Zavala is angry at the Traveler for... not speaking to anyone? For not doing anything? But the fact that both us as Guardians and Cayde managed to get a vision literally completely shoots down that arguement from Zavala, and the fact that Cayde is ALIVE literally sinks any valud arguement that Zavala would have had (if, y'know, his character wasn't rolled back from Haunted solely for wangst value and to fabricate tension in an otherwise tepid finale). He literally looked at Cayde's revival, coming back from the grave, and he genuinely says "It's not enough." He then proceeds to bullrush ahead and ignore the very obvious warnings from Cayde and Ikora that MAYBE the darkness statues MIGHT be working for the Witness, but nope! Had to hand Zavala the idiot ball just to move the plot forward, honestly I felt nothing for him losing his ghost (Honestly that could be said for most of the story). While we're on the subject, Ikora continues to do mostly nothing (par for the course with the Vanguard characters) and Cayde... exists, I suppose? He definitely exists now, but he's only alive because Bungie needed a hook to reel in more fans. So that was "Our" story according to Bungie, us rolling around and doing the same shit, same 'memberberries and same mediocre story beats while three incredibly old and powerful characters continue to squabble and argue like children over things that just don't matter in comparison to the literal end of everything. All in all, a pretty tepid finale to a series a decade in the making. And before someone asks, I know that the raid is slated to contiue the story, but I do not care, a single raid and a 15 minute long mission (assuming the servers don't implode) isn't gonna do anything to make the story any less mediocre. And just to let everyone know, this expansion was DELAYED because even the playtesters said that it just wasn't up to their standards, which implies that the expansion was originally so mediocre that even Bungo realised that they couldn't ship it. At this point, I'm assuming that Sony will probably start budget cutting and trying to recoup lost assets from Bungie, and the game will probably be put on life-support / limbo for the forseeable future. Either way, I'm hoping that in the coming weeks, people will finally get out of the sunk-cost-fallacy they've been trapped in for ten years now and finally move on.

Hey dude, I just wanted to correct you on one thing. Cayde doesn't exist just to get hype up for another garbage dlc. But he's also here so that in the final mission after the raid, he sacrifices himself and dies again by giving his light to us and our ghost so we can live. So you know, more bullshit as usual. Literally brought back a dead character, then killed him again 😂. So yeah, no real tension about the whole dlc. No real "sacrifices" when cayde had already been gone for like 5 years. This is all datamined information, btw.

im so mad, the game crashed before i got the meeting cayde cut scene, i feel robbed, i havent been playing since beta and mourned cayde all this time just to miss my guardian talking to him again for the first time in years, i might actually like start over once the servers settle just to see this properly

I feel like some of the people here never bought the game and are just judging from the cutscenes. The quest and strike also tells the story. Plus the gameplay is so fun. Im having a blast with prismatic warlock, having many buddies and ice turrets. I guess broke players are just salty 😅

We’ve had loss. But yeah we should’ve had more loss before the stakes rose so high. If we were to lose here it would’ve just been over. No avengers endgame just infinity war but 2/2 people get dusted instead of1/2. That would’ve been stupid as fuck. Also Zavala lost his ghost that’s a bit of a loss and we don’t know what else is gonna happen yet

Now that we’re pretty much at the end of destiny I can safely say the taken king was the best dlc hands down. No contest. It was new everything! Best story telling, best protagonist, best raid! I will never have that feeling of booting up taken king again.
