One of my favorite series on YT, catching up on missed episodes. I grew up in Squirrel Hill and the South Hills. Murray Ave was my teenage hotspot. It's nice seeing the time and care you put in to get every detail as perfect as possible.

Beautiful and impressive as always! For the Squirrel Hill interchange rework, I'm a big fan of reducing highways down to boulevards/dual carriageways. Automobiles don't always need priority to move fluidly and quickly through a space. The needs of the community around the interchange should be prioritized, with car-centric thoroughfares added afterward, either over or under the priority movements. I say, tear-out the interchange and create a slow roundabout or intersection that forces traffic to yield to local movements. So excited to see your future alterations!

This is so awesome, I don't play the game but the level of skill and commitment is apparent to even me! I drive 376 eastbound from the city at least 4 times a week. Sometimes during rush hour, sometimes during slow hours. Since you're asking for specific feedback on the Squirrel Hill Tunnel interchange, I have one specific observation you might be interested in. I never see the greenfield off-ramp as backed up as this Skylines simulation shows. In fact, during rush hour, the right lane moves so much faster than the tunnel lanes, that people often stick to the right from a mile or two back and then merge late right before the tunnels. I think the game is simulating a lot more traffic taking the Greenfield turn than there ever actually is in real life. If this is interesting to you and there's more information I can provide, let me know!

That transition at 7:09 was SOOOO GOOD! God I hate this interchange lol. It's awful to drive and yes CS actually shows it off quote well with realistic traffic. It's great seeing so many areas of my home city come to life as well! I work for an "architecture firm" south of Pittsburgh and it's great to see you place and detail around some of the very projects I have worked on! (EX 16:29 that construction site is called Flats on Forward that I personally have worked on for the past few years and is in the final 2 months of construction!) Will be great to see you get into the Shadyside/Eastside neighborhood's next since my company has done so much commercial and multifamily over in that region. Props to the slide and bus easter eggs as well! Keep up the great work! Excited to see how you tackle some of the improvements later in the series! Expansion of the light rail is one I've always wished for!

The eastbound sq hill onramp shouldve been redone with the Greenfield bridge - all the space leading up to the tunnel is hillside, but a tall long ramp on the hillside to the parkway would alleviate a bit of the horrible mess that happens at the tunnel. additionally: you're doing amazing work!

A dumbell interchange would probably be the most suitable alternative in fixing Squirrelhill. I see a lot of other likeminded commenters who have mentioned this design. I feel the roundabouts could fit in well and footprint wouldn’t be much of a constraint.

For the interchange near squirrel hill. My first thought is to just put a simple diamond interchange in there. But if traffic is as heavy as I am expecting, then people are probably screwed. As there doesn't appear to be much room for any sort of DDI, A4 Parclo, or Dumbell Interchange. Who knows though. I'm sure someone could come up with something.

Unsafe driving condition at the Squirrel Hill/Homestead exit: DO NOT CHANGE. This is my exit (live in Greenfield) and that is just how it is. It is beautiful. Roads make no sense in Pittsburgh, so they shouldn't in Cities Skylines. This exit is the reason I always commute by bike, just to avoid all the traffic caused by the exit design.

Why do I feel like even after like 2-3 years of the steam workshop working on cs 2, it still won’t be as good or as realistic as this..? I think it’s the scaling? Here’s hoping the workshop gets the scaling realistic or PO comes out at some point. Like how long will it take to be able to do the highway signs with correct text and accurate murals. This recreation is a masterpiece!
@GaseousStranger Жыл бұрын
I agree, especially with the huge variety of assets available for CS1. I think it will be quite a while to replace almost a decades worth of assets. I’m using over 9000 assets in this save, and that is being extremely careful and conservative with what I download to keep things “lean” and only subscribe to what I will actually use. That will take time and a lot of dedicated effort to replace. I’m excited to see what CS2 becomes in about 2-4 years, but for the time being it seems CS1 will be the game for flexible, highly customizable, detailed, and realistic builds.

It's a bit boring but a dumbbell or "dogbone" interchange would probably be the best way to fix Squirrelhill in the future. It would have to be quite compact, but the roundabouts would be the only thing that could work there and I'm not even a fan of them.
