At first the idea of making power shift ultra competitive put me off, but after you explained it and I start s thinking, I noticed today when I was playing it every class can pretty much shine in the mode, only class that didn’t feel as strong was medium which isn’t really a bad thing since they are the middle ground (I’m a medium-light main). I never cared enough for ranked cuz my friend group doesn’t take this game seriously or wants to try it that much, I bet I diamond or ruby if I had a team though. I hope they actually make power shift a ranked mode now. It embodies the finals well and just about every class and build can work in it too because it can have almost every scenario in it.

Man so true about the friend group thing. I played world tour with my friends today and it was painful seeing them not knowing what to do and one didn’t know how to use the healing beam. When we somehow managed to qualify one of my friends just disconnected.

When powershift first came out me and some random people ran 5 turrets and 5 aps and didn’t lose a game for several hours. We would hop off the platform just to prolong the game for more kills. Haven’t played it much since.

I'm not surprised TA bombed as hard as it did honestly. Me and all my friends who play The Finals literally only played it during the initial event for the free stuff, outside of that it's literally taking all the fun out of what makes the finals the finals and turning it into every other generic comp shooter like cs or valorant. no thanks. I also agree with cashout needing a bit of balancing and changes to it to make it more appealing to me since I primarily play power shift and have enjoyed that mode since the first time I tried it in S2. I think the flexibility of power shift being able to swap loadouts on the fly is the greatest strength that mode has, it lets you test builds out and even swap out body types if you have one set for each type prior to it. Most of my friends bounce between, World Tour and Power Shift but with all the cheaters most of them end up going against in WT they more or less only play Power Shift these days.

The reason they came up with terminal attack is they had a hard time filling lobbies in ranked before. They used to only start once there was 16 teams in season 1 and they reduced it to 8 teams in season 2 to mitigate this and terminal attack was meant to reduce the amount of players needed even more but it killed the spirit of the game. Cash out tournaments are clearly how the game was designed to be played and they should stick to it and try different things in casual playlists so that they can grow the player base that way.

To make TA good all they got to do is add revise and heal like you got 30 seconds to revive your teammates, and you can only revive them once and medium and heavy will be useful and it would be fun

They should come out with an oddball mode like Halo had where you carry the cash box or objective around the map trying to survive and fight for the box and your teammates defend you.. all while gaining points or time for carrying the objective.. that would be better than terminal attack..

Power Shift is a pure casual mode, in my opinion. Also, most people won't be bothered by it, but I would find it depressing as it would not feel true to the spirit of the original game. My idea: (1) Just fix cashout (not hard, I suspect) and (2) also fix the ELO system (also, not hard, which I'm actually 99.9% confident I could do with a few lines of code). One thing I think about these days is how Embark seems to have committed to this path from the start (maybe not switching ranked to TA-only for S3, but definitely getting away from Cashout and, really, the whole Game Show concept). When I really think about the whole CNS storyline, I don't know how to draw any other conclusion, and as we would expect for a free game that has to rely on selling content, they indicated that they definitely had the first few seasons planned out when they launched the game. People who want to blame Nexon can't accept that it might be the relatively small, creative, absurdly talented, once-independent studio darling who is responsible for potentially dropping the ball on this one. At some point, even Embark will become disenchanted with the game (if they aren't already) and simply pack it in and throw their efforts behind ARC Raiders or whatever else catches their fancy. It's a shame because so much time and money are poured into a game as ambitious as THE FINALS, and that's to say nothing of the love, sweat, and tears. Then, consider everything the players have invested. Of course, I really shouldn't be talking as if the game is already dead. I don't have the data. Maybe the game is basically doing fine, even if it's not doing as well as hoped.

I really like your argument for Power Shift, In any reality it's better than Terminal Attack. I remeber loads of people asking for ranked Powershift and Cashout last season and I think that's a great idea. Another game mode suggestion I've heard going around is a Hardpoint style mode, I think that would be fantastic. In order to change Cashout to make it competitively viable and to stop third parties, having a complete heath and ability refresh when wiping all 3 members of an enemy team makes it harder to third party.

I don't understand why they thought that TA is a good gamemode for dynamic game. Why tf i want to play round with heart rate over 110 scared of that i die and won't respawn. In TA risk is not the key, you need to play carefully, but this just don't work in this game. In the finals you just want to jump into action, shooting everything that moves instead of tactical shit.if i want tactical gameplay i go in cs2 , siege, pubg etc, but NOT IN THE FINALS

I just got to Gold 4 on World Tour and since i have no more rewards to grind I thought it would be good to climb the ranked leaderboard in TA. I played 1 game and it is ass 😂 2 of my team mates left mid game and its just an absolute mess. Im not sure if I’m even going to attempt to climb this leaderboard. I’ll probably be way too bored to even care.

I would massively preferer powershift over TA as ranked. I think cashout is best but i really dont mind Powershift while they fix Cashout And it fits the 5v5 marketing. I thing we need pro players to do a custom 5v5 powershift game where they actually try and we see how it goes

Power shift slaps, I really like the mode and play it daily almost exclusively. After many hours I think it's best mode but found there's the sonar equipment strategy is super oppressive and is not fun at all when it dose randomly happens. When the whole team runs it , it really sucks. I'd like to see some changes on that but other than that the mode is good to go

@crypix yeah I play light so I know all about going against that is. Aside form the claw getting them another way to get a free kill. It is more playable againt than a full sonar squad less ways to avoid it or counter it. Since its a full team and its passively giving your postion away they are able to follow up team shots on anyone more consistently. I do agree with you that is also a problem but is slightly more avoidable, in my opinion. Coming form a light main that knows those strats are just crutches

Totally agreed here. Although I like Powershift how it is, perhaps trial a "split 1" Ranked mode of Powershift but how Embark handled this TA fail, I'd want a more fleshed out model for Powershift. Also, there were plenty of OG players from the community (cult) warned Embark that TA was not good. But it felt like they ignored the player base that actually play the Finals and tried for some BS outliers fringe MF'ers and got catfished HARD! Twitch Rivals was played in Cash Out and worked fine for the most part. Players like Piggy was only grind TA Ranked purely to be the first get Ruby. But the flaws in TA just got exposed, let a lone the "New" Ranking System which is even more convoluted and broken and they all stopped playing the silly game mode. Sad news is the player count is now going back to "normal" and dropping by the day if you look at the steam player base. Embark right now are coming to a cross roads and really need to tread very lightly here but it's all their own doing. Horrible marketing pushes, silly game balances and gimmick add-ons but I want to finish on a good note at least, World Tour is cool, the cosmetics this season are by far the most creative and minor upgrades to UI/Menu's are really starting to come along. Embark have a long season a head, best not F it up!

Me, I hate power shift. Its boring and doesn't take advantage of what makes the Finals good. It's just a centralised on rails mess that doesn't require much strategy. The way to make ranked Cash Out better is to give way more money for opening the cash box and putting it into the cash out station. Make it enough that just securing two cash outs doesn't make you safe. Force teams to contest every step of the process or they can't reliably make it to the next round.

Season 4 will be the make or break of this game, embark are gonna need to make it a really good season and fix a bunch of the issues players have with it, i am glad they added cashout tournaments back with world tour which has been so much fun, the finals is meant to be chaotic, fun and a little more casual than other fps games but TA fails all of these

Lets face the facts guys. TA is much better for ranked then cashout. Why you ask? Just think it throu.. You as a player who can play good simply outperform the palyers whos bad. In cahsout you can be a good induvudial not matter. The caotic theme of the the game is fun i love it too i still play it and i still love it but when i play ranked im absulutely refresshed playing a normal slower tactical based game and thats TA. I get it you dont have patiance for slower game thats fine are you considered chilling out and try to be good at TA and give it a chance maybe you will love it too as the 80%of ppl right now. Im a player whos playing this game daily since beta im diamond 3 from tha last two seasons. And man this mode is much better for a "ranked sweaty game then cashout. " thats fact. This might be the craziest idea ever and idk but what if it was set up as a 5v5 cashout and theres no attack and defend at the beginning but theres 2 vaults on the map w equal value the teams split up for each vault and theres also 2 cashouts on the map and it could end up being a 5v5 for 10k or like a 3v2 on 2 different cashouts for 5k and that would cause a tie or who has more vault taps/kills j more money in general lmk if ive lost my mind

Power shift is over half my total played games, I love it as a casual mode. But..... Once 5 stacks all running meta loadouts are brought up, me as a solo queuer realizes it would be just as bad as TA in that regard. Power shift does let you sometimes pop off as a one man army but most of the time you don't know the skill level of your opponents, solo team wiping in casual power shift will always be easier than doing the same in a ranked format.
