With this build you can improve by swapping the point out of the flameshock talent and putting that in echoes of great sundering. Also, since lightning rod is only 3% of out damage, its value is likely lower than primal elementalist (the extra action of the storm ele will do far more). In total, a bit more micro-management in the build by probably far more damage overall in both single target and aoe. All in all, like the build and the idea.

@@beastlyshotzful Echos isn't actually that great here... I ran a bunch of tests with Echoes and without it and the build without it performed much better each time. It really depends on the dungeon and number of mobs, but I like it without Echoes. As for Lightning Rod, its def something that could be swapped as you say. The uptime on the Ele would be big.

The "dmg test", if you want to call it that, seem really odd rota is not really played the Eartquake / Master of the Elements ( Lava burst- > Earthquake = Lightning Rod) isnt worth it ? You really have to practice the Basic of the Lightning build to get good aoe and single.

I actually tested a similar build on beta yesterday, it looks ok but probably still just worse than standard farseer build numerically. One thing worth noting is that Flash of Lightning not reducing the cooldown of Primordial Wave is a bug (noted by blizzard themselves in the 11.0.0 known issues post). So that will make Primordial wave the same cd as Ancestral Swiftness and make this hybrid playstyle abit better

I have been running something similar , I don't run storm elemental, ice fury and fusion of elements and instead run storm frenzy and ascendance with fire elemental and it gives me 100% uptime on my elemental with really fast chainlightnings and more cds on your nature spells. My breakdown looks similar with earthquake, chainlightning, and lavaburst bring my top damage abilities, but that's on prepatch. I haven't touched beta at all. The flow feels amazing between EB, chainlightning, earthquake, Prim wave, and lava burst.

It's fun to set up ancestral swiftness and pwave and just BLAST chain lightnings and earthquake. Not sure if ancestors chain lightning works with lightning rod?

Decent Idea, there was a similar build in season4 of Shadowlands being playing by a high rated korean ele. Most people were playing pure lvb, but this guy was playing storm ele and using flame shock to reduce it's CD. The 2 things you would need to change though is you need Surge of Power not Aftershock otherwise you cannot maintain good flame shock uptime and selecting Primal Elemental. The whole strength of Storm ele is the active ability in AoE, it cranks. But yes, there is historical evidence of this kind of idea of using storm ele cd reduction with flame shock actually being good.

I was reaally looking forward playing a lightning build, I hope they can buff the ST dmg of Lightning bolt to make it competitive with the LB/Fire build, and also revert the changes to Stormbringer for elemental.

Taking Icefury and Fusion of Elements here doesn't make sense when you're not casting enough lava bursts to get any real use out of it. Those two points could be moved to Storm Frenzy and Echoes which are gunna be just a straight DPS increase over them.

@@1missing it's for Single target damage. It's a massive boost in damage on boss fights, something Lightning based builds desperately need.

I was wondering if a storm build would work with Farseer. The CdR on storm ele alone seems super good. To me a hybrid ele build would be the best thing ever, I hate this polarized fire or storm theme that’s been going on for several expacs.

I would love if Elemental remained strong in TWW. but given the history Blizzard has with Shaman, i honestly don't see it. I don't feel that it is a stretch to say that Blizzard hates shamans, and that's from someone who has historically been a Warlock/Mage player, Evoker when DF came around. I'm not making assumptions but i do worry that the good tidings (no pun intended) will be short-lived. That said, i used my 70 boost on a Zandalari shaman, so i'll be right there with the rest of you if something does get ripped away. Here's hoping that doesn't happen though

Give lightning bolt/chain lightning -0.25s cast time for stormkeeper? Or make that talent that decreases it after a spender ability give 2 stacks, not just 1? Hell, I'd take any change that fixes the insanely low maelstrom generation. :|

@@yazan80 it puts a flame shock on an enemy... Then, your next Lava Burst cast will hit all enemies with Flame Shock on them. So if you've got 6 Flame Shocks out, it will send Lava Burst s to each of them. Very powerful

@@markprice315 Yeah it's really strong. Mandatory for every build imo. It's mostly a ST thing now. You'll get the occasional proc on aoe, but it only procs when you hit Lava Burst now, so it's much more of a ST thing. But when it procs the damage is incredible.

@@BreackTheHeat it's not about the damage of Icefury itself... Its the Frost Shock damage after and most importantly, the free Ele Blast proc we get because of the Fusion talent.

Everybody just keep forgetting the main reason why ele is so op now, and its not because the """rework""" its because we got a 30% AURA BUFF weeks ago and this came to retail pre-patch too, but if blizzard taking it back on the TWW release, we will back when we started or even worse position dps-wise in the tierlists, so don't say it too early we are good now or in tww. This rework without that aura buff is just a f'king nerf to us until they don't come up with something mandatory change in the good way. BTW good try hyping everybody up with hopium " we are good in numbers". "No Offense"

@@balinthuber4913 Why are you assuming they will revert the 30% buff? Lol. Also, that buff isn't the only reason Ele is doing well. The rework is insanely good. The icefury rework is really strong. 2 min Ascendance + DRE is nuts. 30 sec Prime Wave is huge. Ele is in a good spot regardless of the buff, but you're also assuming they'll just take it away lol. Why would they give a 30% buff for all of beta testing, then suddenly take it away on release. Makes absolutely no sense

For me, if a rework is insanely good tht meaning dont need the spec for buffing all spells overall, its just a lazyer way to make ele strong numerically, im ele main but not happy to see what blizzard doing with this opportunity for now making us like a well feeded little child, not a reshaped strong man. But its my own take. I dont blame you, just pls "do not count your chickens before they hatch". The elemental shaman's strong pre-patches often continues into a weak season.

@@balinthuber4913 why can't the aura buff be considered part of the overall rework? I'm just not sure why you're separating them. To me, I see any changes that have happened on the beta as part of the same continuous rework and tuning for Ele, and it just doesn't make sense that they'd let us play around with Ele for months like this, only to take it all away on launch. Even if they nerf the Ele aura down to 15% more damage instead of 30, they will still be in a great spot.

Tbh was a bit disappointed lol the video sort of talks like its a farseer lightning build yet the numbers clearly show pretty normal farseer damage.. ele blast and lava burst at top by far for both aoe and single target. Chain lightning basically only used with SK as normal or rare occasions when you dont have a lava burst to cast.. Lightning bolt like 2% of your damage lol... I like the attempt I so badly want a proper lightning focused build that BRINGS BACK LIGHTNING BOLT lol but this aint it.
