Wow, been reading all the complaints even from Harley owners, and here is my two cents worth, I'm 62, rode dirt bikes as a teenager only, 3 years ago acquired (thats free) a 2007 Honda shadow, got my license rode 15 thousand miles 2 seasons, upgraded last October to a 2016 Street Glide Special, my wish list is about 4 grand with most of the 8 listed, I started with the most important things first, for me safety, extended brake pedal for my size 13 boots, the rest will come in time, without preventing me from riding. So here is the point, I knew what I was getting into and the on going costs associated with it, I could have just as easily bought a brand new Honda Gold Wing for the same money and like the Shadow drove it trouble free till.....ever. Owning a motorcycle is a personal thing, doesn't matter the brand, he will always change, adjust or add, to help make him one with the road, thats why we ride! To me it's a Harley!
@jackandblaze59562 жыл бұрын
That's right. There's really almost no upgrades for a Goldwing or a BMW r18, because they already have great brakes, great power, great handling, great seats, etc... But where's the fun in that? They are too quiet though and a Goldwing would be more fun with a supercharger. But they still wouldn't have the street cred or p***y magnate power of a Harley. Wanna ride alone, fine, get a Goldwing. Wanna have a smokin hot Chola Mamacita on the back? Harley's the only way... Unless I could get my hands on the first real bike I ever rode, a 65 Cushman Eagle & modify that with a "Softail" rear suspension, S&S two litre engine, & taller front wheel with a proper springer front suspension. That would be a good made in USA substitute for a Harley.

One thing they do not mention, that can be important (especially for women) is changing out the clutch and brake handles for ones with better leverage. The wind protection is a must, as was noted in the video - get a windshield or fairing with hand protection, that reaches to a height at the top or just below the top of your helmet, so that you can see over it in heavy rain (or heavy bug coatings), but you can hunker down behind it in the rain.

You don’t need to tune the M8 Motor with a Stage 1 kit, the stock ECM is is enough.

I see why I’m starting to notice people moving over to Indian. I shouldn’t have to need to buy a bunch of after market parts after buying a brand new motorcycle.

But what If you want a bike that you have endless customizing options? Some people don’t want a bike you just buy and ride.

It's ridiculous that Harley doesn't manufacture their own quality front and rear suspensions for the money they charge for their bikes. The only thing premium on a Harley is its paint and some hard parts. The engines are budget build engines and the suspensions are cheapo.

I thought it was actually illegal to change exhaust / computer FI settings.. didnt the harley company get fined millions for selling performance electronics modules, and were ordered to buy all of them back from customers that bought them?? what about the builder Jesse James? he paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines for making / selling custom machines that were not goverment approved.. shops i worked for could not legally alter the stock tuning on customer machines.. Malcolm Smith was in court for selling brand new motorcycles and quads that were not federal government approved, and I don’t know how many hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines he had to pay from his dealership. so what risks are there if I buy some of these parts from you and, are you not taking a risk and selling them? what about the Warranty from Harley? I’m using non-OEM parts. Not made by or marketed by Harley. Can they void warranty coverage when something goes wrong?

New shocks for my Harley 900.00, New exhaust for my HArely 1500.00, New handlebars 800.00. Having the aftermarket guy tell me all the shit I need to buy in order to make my new 28,000.00 motorcycle better, priceless!

I'm guessing there is a massive profit maqrgin on Legend suspension because it's the worst suspension I've ever seen. Incredibly harsh ride and the stock suspension is so much better for street riders. If an upgrade is wanted I highly recommend Wilbers. I wouldn't use legends if you gave it to me.

There is something fundamentally wrong with this entire presentation - on its' face; (disclaimer - I own a Harley Switchback). WHY SHOULD it be necessary to strip off and replace part-after-part-after-part from a large, complex, multi-thousand dollar piece of [brand new] machinery?! What is so fundamentally wrong with Harley-Davidson motorcycles that virtually everything attached to them as they leave the factory is considered (to some...) wholly and fundamentally inadequate for the task for which the motorcycles were designed and built..? The entire subject seems to be [somehow] cast in some bizarre, alternative reality.

1. Your mind, wild hog. Harleys USED to be cool, when they were the mark of a rebel. Now they're the sign of someone with a $25,000 credit line, not enough balls to quit a bad job. Bankers ride Harleys - lawyers and pediatricians.
