$1750 is an aggressive amount to the car loan! MrM (and you) is certainly motivated to get out from under that loan. My memory of a $600 minimum and disreguarding any interest pegs a $1750 extra payment at about 3 month's of regular payments; and 6 to 7 paycheck budgets out from this loan's retirement. Again this is amazing especially when you consider the added allocations for pets and health insurrance premiums. - Even if you dont have a single additional paycheck, you are knocking that car loan balance down and cutting months off the end of the loan. I cant help but believe that knocking the car loan down will give you more options on the monthly budget in the future.

Yes, it will absolutely give us more options once we get this one knocked out - the monthly impact of Mr. Ms income into our joint checking will increase when he doesn't have this car payment to consider!

We are going to be doing a review soon to see if we can't get better rates for both car & home in 2025. We didn't get great results previously but I'm hopeful with our debt and credit changes maybe better options will be available! We'll absolutely keep in mind doing yearly - we'd need to set up a sinking fund for that but that's not too big of a deal if it saves us loot!
