I don't think it was a gold dragon tho. There is no indication in game and due to the spell mechanic, the damage resistance and breath weapon type isn't really relevant, but I do like the idea of him being a gem dragon. There are yet to be seen in Exandria and it would be dope if they went extinct (or almost extinct) because of the Age of Arcanum/The Calamity

The spell isn't really enslavement from the spell mechanics. You're just summoning a spirit, not the soul, of a dragon who owned the hoard. The difference is that the soul is the real dragon while the spirit is just really a manifestation of what a dragon looks like, just like how the Speak with Dead spell isn't really speaking with the soul but the body. It can also be any dragon. Nydas just chose to have the dragon manifest as the dragon who once owned the hoard on top of Toramunda.

The timing was beautiful for this. The pacing of the dialogue fit the animation so well that it never felt like there was too little, or too much happening at one time. And just the car sound, Aabria's "let's go," the little dragon snoot smoosh... 🤌

Honestly, if the cast ever gets another guest on who really wants to mess with them... have it be a Warlock, with this dragon spirit as a patron.
