I bought a dwarf mulberry earlier this year too. It started leafing up then turned yellow and dropped all it's leaves. I thought I'd lost it but now it's returning with bright green healthy looking leaves. I hope yours comes good too. Cheers!

Sounds like yours is on the right trajectory! Fingers crossed mine follows suit. The nurseryman I spoke to was quite encouraging and said they’re fairly resilient trees, whereas the persimmon might be a bit more finicky…

Add these plants to your wish list that do well for Melbourne. White sapote and Cherimoya

I would love a Cherimoya! Just have to find the space

There is a lot to love about your plot! The espalier against the sunny wall for one; textbook awesome! Love the fact that the fig tree is from your family home too, good feels :). Re the pears, always take the high road and give the fruit evenly, or take the low road and give them ALL the fruit and remind them of it constantly 😂....but y'know, take the high road hehe. If the mulberry has some green as you say in the stem cambium layer, should be right, hopefully the warmth gets it going :). Is it a white or red shahtoot? "Give your plants a chance" is a great motto, my wife has saved many trees from my uprooting and has been right every time, they always came back. Apologies for the long comment, but one last thing: man, those APRICOTS! They're beauts! One of my fave stone fruits, and the low chill variety (a marcot from down south) I've had in the ground has yet to even flower after three years in the ground... happy for your success here!

Thanks so much for your lovely comment! I’ll take your advice about the pears ha ha - splitting them evenly that is! The mulberry is a red variety, do you grow mulberries? Ahh apricots… I think they’re my favorite. Mine is a 3 year old tree and has flowered the past few seasons but hasn’t borne fruit until this year. The flowers alone are spectacular, and you can’t beat a home grown apricot. Fingers crossed for some fruit from yours next year!!

I can definitely relate to buying more plants and not necessarily have space for them 😂
