Robbin traded his white Double Rhoads to CC Deville sometime around 1986 for a vintage Gibson Firebird, which prompted Robbin to have several Jackson Firebirds built... he liked the Firebird design as it was a more practical shape than his King V's. I have no idea what CC did with the white King V (probably traded it for coke). Regards 🎸

I recently discovered some photos from Ozzy & Ratt at Sheffield City Hall 1986, and Robbin is pictured playing a black King V and a cream coloured Jackson Firebird with some kind of drawings on it. Hideous guitar though. Much prefer the RR and the King V.

Robbin's Big Red has a broken headstock. It was fixed at the San Dimas Jackson factory by Mike Shannon. It was broken in Dallas when Ratt was playing clubs on their days off opening for Billy Squier. A drunk football player accidently knocked it over.

What pickups does the Robin Crosby Jackson have?
@EssexRecordingStudios3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I would have assumed hand wound pickups by Jackson, but maybe some of the experts here will know
@BLeeFAFO3 жыл бұрын
Robbin used custom wound Seymour Duncan JBs until the "Reach For The Sky " era Reverse Firebirds and V's. Starting with the "Way Cool Jr." Firebird Reverse he had Tom Anderson pickups (not sure what model). After that he left Jackson/Charvel in late '89 and used Dirty Fingers once he got a Gibson endorsement.

I don't doubt it's authenticity, but a couple of things are off about Big Red; the guitar originally came with the a Seymour Duncan JB and Jazz pickups per Robbins choice... they seem to be replaced with the early "in house" uncovered Jackson pickups with black screws and slugs (?!). And, obviously someone also pulled the original Black Floyd Rose from this guitar. You know what... I think maybe he swapped the Floyd on the Polinski and Big Red; look at the mounting studs... they're chrome on Polinski's and Black on Big Red.
@EssexRecordingStudios2 жыл бұрын
You could be right. The Polonski Floyd and tremolo arm look more like worn away coating revealing stainless steel underneath to me though. I imagine these guitars would go through some changes over the decades and passing hands through different guitar techs. I'm not sure what the spec was in the guitar on the day Robin ultimately sold it on
@scottdunn21782 жыл бұрын
@@EssexRecordingStudios Who knows. Robbin supposedly traded his white Double Rhoads to CC Deville for the '64 Gibson Firebird Robbin is playing in the Dance video. I'd love to know if CC still has it or what happened to it.

There's some bad stories of people ripping Robbin off, him trading them for drugs and him just selling them super cheap to get money. In the late nineties, I was playing in Myrtle Beach and a dude in a road band said he'd bought one from somebody that acquired one from Robbin. Not sure if it was true or not, it was a Charvel I believe, it had Ratt tour stickers all over the case. This was before his death. Very sad story, indeed. Nice to see one of his former axes being looked after and appreciated.

@americanmetalhead39545 жыл бұрын
Zakkpaulo Yeah, by the way I’m more of a Randy Rhoads guitar guy.
@EssexRecordingStudios5 жыл бұрын
Yes correct the first design was the "Pointy V" seen in the other video which had no headstock logo and was done around 1981 and booked as a Charvel. At around the same time the Randy Rhoads model was being developed and so this Double Rhoads was the evolution of the Rhoads and Pointy V...then comes the King V with smaller body and also different construction method if you look at those seems in the paint from where the wood is joined
