Hello and thanks for checking out the channel! In this video we take a look at the FIRST Warriors game introduced on the PS2 in 2000. Koei took a different approach when moving to the 3D Hack n' Slash genre, from the 2D Fighting style used in Dynasty Warriors on the PS1.

This game not only got me into the Musou franchise, but also opened the big door to the sixth generation era to me by being one of the couple of my very first PS2 games. Dynasty Warriors 2 may be one of those aging launch titles that may be considered as some sort of novelty to many people, but that never stopped me from giving the game the respect it deserves.

Certainly DW2 is a novelty, especially being a launch title! Although it’s often overlooked, it’s important people know where the series started and how far it’s come.

DW5 was solid, I spent a lot of time playing COOP in that game with my roommate, but humble beginnings regarding DW2 for sure!

Something that was exclusive in this game and in 3 is the artificial intelligence of the archers who seem to have a hawk's eye and when you move away they follow you depending on the distance but when you get closer they flee and disperse to shoot you. when the difficulty is on difficult.

In Dynasty Warriors 3 Xtreme Legends it has Very Hard Mode

the thing i liked about the third game and this game is that when you defeat a officer with a 8 or more combo you get double sword or shield. This was removed in the fourth game for some reason.

Yes very underrated quality, they continued it in some modern games but not to this extent.

Its crazy how much DW3 improved on DW2 in about a year of development. DW2 seems much more rough.

DW4 on psp was my first but DW3 felt like such a masterpiece sadly I never played another title in the series after many crashes in DW8 empires

DW2 was my very first video game EVER! It was easy for me because I got used to it very quickly. I'm glad to see someone did a video on this game. But I wish for a challenge like DW2 again in the future.

Loved this review man. This started it all for me, I was I want to say 13 at the time it released. I loved everything about it and is the reason I have such a strong love for dynasty warriors to this day.

Here a take from a guy who played the game when it came out. It was just amazing BUT the only problem was that the game was single player and me and my dad enjoyed playing games together (i was 8-9 years old or smt) so the game definetely felt it was designed for 2 players coop but there wasnt any coop. When we saw DW3 on a game shop, and also saw that it said "2 players" my dad and i just became hyped as fuck and we played dw3 nearly for 5-6 years even tho we bought other entries. There was smt charming in this dw2/3 games (dw2 is basically like an early access of DW3). But still, for its time it was definetely something eye openin because it was one of the few earlier games of ps2 console. Going from ps1/n64 technology to dw2 was just weird and something unbelievable (ofc later we got games like Hitman, Prince of Persia etc etc but during 2001 we couldnt imagine it.)

Pretty cool story, DW3 was the first coop game I played and I played it with my brothers at the time. It was so incredible and I was hooked, been hooked ever since. DW2 was the precursor to DW3 and the quality of life improvements were quite impressive!

I just finished dynasty warriors 2 on ps2. I still had some fun but due to only having about 7 maps it gets boring fast. Watch out for those Sargents and majors, they are like mini officers 😢 also do not combo officers on hard, knock them back or parry as they will just keep regaining HP 😭 I now see he covered this in the video.

The Sergeants and Majors will give you problems for sure! Cool to see you finish it, but I agree it gets boring… good to revisit for a challenge every now and then.
