Duncan is a BOSS! He made the job of tying all or most of Brupeg’s systems working together possible. You’ve impressed this Arizona landlubber immensely. You’ve touched people all over the world and through these videos will be remember long after you and I will be gone and how many of us can say that? Certainly not me.

I've got a great way of cooking beans and broccoli. A Korean chef taught me this. It's nothing special just a way that never occurred to me and ridiculously simple. They cook perfectly every single time. It is an industrial kitchen type technique but works at home on normal stoves just as well. 1) Get a saucepan full of water boiling 2) Top and tail the beans, and cut the broccoli into small flowerets (they can't be too big) 3) When the water is fully boiling, dump the beans and broccoli into the water and on a high heat bring the water back to the boil. 4) The instant the water is boiling, drain the beans and broccoli and they're ready. 5) If you have lots then you need a bigger saucepan since the mass of water in a small saucepan isn't enough and the temperature drops too far to come back to the boil quickly. Because the beans and broccoli are hot they keep cooking after you've drained them, so they are never ever raw - the beans have a perfect crunch and the broccoli is not crunchy but perfectly cooked. Remember the broccoli floweret heads need to be about say the same width of your thumb. When you cut the flowerets off a bunch then you need to cut them down the stem a few times to get the smallish size. Not too small otherwise they over cook. You'll work it out. Now here's the thing, when you cook packet noodles you can chuck the beans and broccoli in the noodle water just before the noodles are nearly ready and you get packet noodles with some greens just like you get when you go to a noodle bar. If you want to spec the beans and broccoli up a bit cook some sunflower seeds in some olive oil then pour over the beans and broccoli then splash with some artery hardening full salt soy sauce. Another thing is just a squeeze of lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil straight out of the bottle and a grind of black pepper. In the end I just like them on their own. I never ever tire of them that way.

Dajeduc great name for a boat. Now you have plenty of spare time for crew & the add-ons. Doesn't that motor purrr no pun intended. Think the cat is in competition " who wants to be captain ". Bowen Mangoes were a favourate. You might be able to crate some north to sell. Paw paws also a favourite.

In the inrerim to the monitoring system, grab a red paint pen and colour in a red dot on the the surfaces for you to point your IR thermometer on when you do rounds :) that way anyone can go measure the exact same spot, rule a paper log down there for maybe the key 5-10 temps and just write them in as you do them every second or 3rd round :)

It is awesome to see you guys out on your first proper passage! What a journey it's been! You are all an inspiration! With all the new ports you will all be visiting please try to build the habit of wearing your PFDs when mooring or at the waters edge, if you end up in the drink it's no use on the boat!

Such a fantastic reward for staying the course for so many years. It'd be interesting to see the drag penalty the wings incur on the hull. i.e. a 5mm gurney flap on low level formula car can chop 1500-2000 rpms off the top an engine down some main straights. The stability looks fantastic

My cats were aggressive eaters and would push their food and water dishes out into the middle of the room, making 'landmines' for night travel. So I put some of those silicone jar opener discs under the bowls and they kept them in place. They would probably work to keep your cat's dishes from sliding about in big seas. One of those 'Key-Bak Mic-Bak Radio Retractable Tethers' would make sure your Mike wasn't sliding around on the helm and was always in the same place without fumbling for the latch point.

How wonderful for you to finally point her north and get in some serious steaming. So happy for you. As you adapt to the new environment one challenge for you will be to figure out how to get better audio of conversations, to overcome the engine noise. I saw that you were wearing mics but it was still hard to hear what you were saying. Regardless, awesome to see a completely different background - the open ocean!
@ProjectBrupeg
@ProjectBrupeg 2 ай бұрын
Yes audio is definately a challenge, The wireless mic's were dropping in/out (and you dont get any warning of this) so sometimes you have normal good audio and other times the other persons mic is trying to hear what your saying over the background noise (and a coulple of times both mics just quit altogether and you have silence).
