This time we take a look long before the arrival of the Eldritch horrors, before even humanity its self, at the very first sentient beings on Terraria...

This video is NOT official lore for the video game Terraria. It is my own interpretation of the game world and it's history with fictitious elements added to help expand the story.

I've always had this theory. As humanity grew larger in the Lihzard Empire, the Lihzards started to fear the power of this species. At first, they restricted the rights of humans. Then, they started to torture them. Eventually, the humans revolted against their cold-blooded oppressors. A great war began. Underground networks and buildings were constructed. It was a war across the Earth. as the war started to come to a close, everyone could see how badly the Lihzards were faring. This race had many physical attributes that made them superior to Lihzards. Eventually, the Lihzards were repelled, and beaten. Here's where I have two ideas- either the humans exiled the Lihzards to the underground jungle temple to not see another life wasted, or the remaining Lihzards fled to the temple. Either way, the Lihzards began plotting their revolution. Some Lihzards devolved into Flying Snakes. They started to build war machines, and ravage old ones from the previous conflict. I speculate that Golem is one of these. Before they could execute this plot, however, a great chasm caused by Cthulu swept across Terraria, and destroyed the humans. This also wiped out many Lihzards. Fearing for their lives, the remaining Lihzards reinforced their defenses and walls. In a last ditch effort, they asked the Dryads to protect them. The Dryads created a key to the reinforced gate to the temple, and used their energy to summon a giant, plant guardian. This monstrosity would keep the key in it's bulb, not letting anyone disturb and attack the Lihzards again. The tatters of the once great Lihzard race locked themselves away in the temple, hoping never to be seen again. Until one day, a hero came. They tried to fend it off with one of their last remaining machines that represented the Sun God, Golem. It was too late, however. The hero was not to be stopped. This human destroyed the giant mech, and the Lihzard race along with it. Only a few moon worshipers survived. They traveled to the Dungeon, hoping to use their lunar powers to kill one of the last humans once and for all.

wow, that's actually a really good theory. pretty much everything makes sence aside from the lihzahrds "devolving" into flying snakes. (considering they can fly) but other than that, good job.

Luke Hqyes Thanks! I think that some sort of evolutionary change must have happened with the flying snakes. Maybe an experiment gone wrong? It's just a theory, after all.

I think that the flying snakes might be young Lihzahrds, as the 'Lizard' pet that you get from a egg item dropped by the lihzahrds, can grow wings and fly if you run away from it too fast. Maybe they use the wings for better movement during their infancy, due to not having any limbs at this point, they shed them when they grow older and gain limbs.

Woah...okay, that ending was legit. Quite frankly, it makes a lot of sense as well. My only disagreement with this is the heights that the lihilzards (dunno how to spell it) reached before they began their downward progression. They definitely built machines, as seen with Golem, but entire megacities seems a bit too farfetched, especially considering most of them were dismantled. Oh, and also, perhaps you couldve tied in the Lunatic Cultists as those most devoted to the moon more directly, along with the influence the Moon Lord must’ve had on them. Anyways, it was still a great video!

I think more that the Golem was created by the Nymphs so that the Lihzards have,with the mighty walls of the Temple,another Protector.

Sir Ananas While that would make sense, the Golems are still activated by SOLAR power cells, used at the special lihilzard station. There are also traps and wiring within the temple that are most likely remnants of their previous society.

I agree and I have something to add on. I think that maybe the lhizards that disagreed with the worship of the sun became the lunatic cultists. We have never seen their faces so we don’t know if they actually were human. And the lunatic cultist, who I call “Arachne” seems to have some lizard like attacks. For example, her dragon attack, dragons are often portrayed as lizard like and what were the lhizards? I know this evidence is extremely flimsy but it works for me!

Golden Flares11206 I hope you both dont get offended by this,but First they are called Lihzards and not Lihizards or Ihilzards,and Second why do you think that the Lunatic Cultist is Female and why do you Name it Arachne? Also,the Witchdoctor could obviosly be a Lihzard,who wanted to go out of the Temple,or maybe he was banned from the Tribe,or even because he needed Sun Energy,because Lihzards are Reptiles and need Sun Energy to warm themselves up,because the most Reptiles are Coldblooded. And i have a Question,when we know that all about the Lihzards,what is with the Flying Snakes,who also live in the Temple? Are they Pets of the Lihzards,or even an other intelligent Species who lives with them in a Form of „Simbiose"?

Sir Ananas I didn’t get offended and I know I have terrible spelling. I think the lunatic cultist is female because Its really just my preference Edit: Also the cultists honor the moon and the moon is symbolized as the feminine counterpart to the sun. and I named her Arachne because of a Greek myth of a woman named Arachne who thought she was better at weaving than a god. Arachne in the end was better than the god of crafts and wisdom Athena and Athena was so mad that she turned Arachne into a spider. So I think the fact that lhizards ((I’m gonna keep spelling it like that)) are kinda a lizard human hybrid is kinda like how the spider that is Arachne used to be human. the Witch doctor thing is your own theory, and I honestly support it, same with how the flying lizards are pets.

What about yigg their is Aztec theme witch the Aztecs worshiped as the serpent God. And he made bad worshipers of him into lizzard people. And he was in the cuthulu mythos.
