Great stuff that I want to start transitioning to in my journey. My problem right now is some wrist injuries from mountain biking over a year ago that make things like handstands very difficult/painful, although I'm back to being able to do pushups ok (still have to go to knuckles over 20 or so though). Any recommendations for wrist flexibility/strengthening?

To build grip strength for beginner calisthenics athletes, try swinging. The harder you swing, the more strength you build. ( Especially true for your grip. ) A swing hits the hands, arms, shoulders, and back with a massive pulse of mass X gravity. ( Up to 3X bodyweight ! ) Then, it backs off to bodyweight so you can "rest." It will be a challenge, but most people can hang on for a second. 🐒 Hang on tight. It does not look very masculine if you peel and land on your ass or your head. ( A calisthenics rite of passage. )

Hey I have a question, Should I use push ups or close grip push ups in my workout (for mass and size gains) ? If I would choose push ups, I could do about 8 reps 3 sets, and if I choose close grip push ups, I can do about 5 reps of 3 sets. If it helps, other pushing exercises I have in my workout are pseudo lean push ups and pike push ups.
@TheJap96
@TheJap96 Жыл бұрын
Hey man I know its a long time since you asked but here you go. In terms of mass and strength both is good, they both give significant mechanical tension for your muscles to grow. If I were you, I would combine them, both exercises train your chest, triceps and anterior deltoids, so its nice to have some variations to challenge your body in a variety of ways, and also to keep the workout fun. If you only train calisthenics you can combine them in a push day, so you start with the hard variation for a few sets (3 or more), and then move on to the easier one. Also incorporate some dips, and pushing exercises specifically for your shoulder, like pike pushups or handstand pushups on a wall. I´m a personal trainer who train primarily with calisthenics so there is no bullshit. Keep on grinding!
