The First Southern Class 313 Scrap Move Passing Woking - 10/03/23

Video: The first three Southern Class 313 units to be withdrawn are seen being dragged through Woking station by Rail Operations Group Class 37 (37800) bound for storage at Eastleigh, and eventual scrapping.
It wasn't clear whether this was definitely a storage or a scrap move as they were bound for the works instead of Raxstar. However, given that the units themselves had been partially stripped already, they'll most likely be scrapped there.
This was working the 5Q86 1024 Lovers Walk Depot to Eastleigh Works, running about 114 minutes late when passing.

It's sad to learn of the final 313s' impending retirement, but I did hear that at least one of these units (313201) will be preserved at the NRM.

Technically nothing really, as Southern will be shrinking services yet again (like with the 455s) and the 377s will be stretched thin across the whole network. Though there are reports the SE 377s may also fill in the gaps.

Question 🙋‍♂️: Is it sad 😔 to scrap the 3 car class 313s that were previously allocated to SN - Southern. Answer: Yes 🙌 perhaps 🤔 because they could have a long term life beyond the year to perhaps 🤔 the year 2052 that they would be 75 years old. In SN - Southern’s circumstances, the trains 🚊 were aging their age. All class 313s don’t have a toilet 🚻 🚽 except class 313121 is currently wearing the Y - Network Rail yellow 🟨 livery because the railway 🚃 staff honestly want to go to the toilet 🚻 🚽 if they feel that they are likely to fart 💨. I think 🧐 that the SN - Southern Railway 🚃 customers of whom used the class 313s are on the west coast way route probably felt angry 😠 😡 😤 , upset 😢 😭 😠 , disappointed ☹️ 😔 😢 , let down ⬇️, hurt 😢 😞 😔 , offended, cheesed off and finally worried 😟 😦 😧 because they are used to class 313s are on the route in the southeast of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. All class 313s have standard class accommodation only however plenty of them have gone to the scrapyard and are being recycled ♻️ for the metal to be used again and again everyday that don’t let the while wide world 🌎 go to waste. Class 377s have previously replaced class 313s. The seats 💺 💺 on all class 313s are comfortable. I suppose perhaps 🤔 it could be unsafe for class 313s to be used on the railways 🚃 🚆 because things could go wrong 😑 without warning ❗️ ❕ ⚠️ . Under my circumstances, I don’t say anything to anyone about the class 313s because it could possibly be embarrassing 😳 🙈 😞 and I’m not joking 🙃. Perhaps 🤔 it’s old age to the 3 car class 313s. As class 377s have replaced the aging class 313s, class 377s have toilet 🚻 🚽 and first class accommodation in most carriages. All trains 🚊 are non smoking 🚭 because it can cause a serious 🧐 fire 🔥 on the trains 🚊 which includes all railway 🚃 stations 🚉 🚉 around the world 🌍 are covered and uncovered. Yes 🙌, things do change in life. Class 313s have been in the business 🧑‍💼 with SN - Southern from 1976 to 2023 is 47 years. As class 313s are facing the scrapyard, they now can now rest in peace ✌️ ☮️ .

Once the scrapping of the 313s is complete, what class will then become the oldest EMU class? There can't be too many classes of EMU left that can't be converted 3rd rail to OLE or OLE to 3rd rail

507/508s will become the oldest units once the 313s go. They were built around the same time as the 313s. 507s were 1978-1980 and 508s were 1979-1980

@@harrystrains3227 Until they get retired, I'm guessing it'll be about a year before all the new class 777s are in service and the 5.7/5.8s are all retired
