50:50 That's the AI in gen1 which is programmed to use super-effective moves in priority. As Mirror coat is Psychic and Grimer is Poison, it considers the move to be super-effective, and thus will keep spamming it

If I recall correctly, the same logic bug exists in Gen1 with the rival's pidgeotto, where if you use a Poison pkm, the pidgeotte will only spam Agility because it is "psychic".
