I’ve been a huge Opeth fan for years and believe that Åkerfeldt is one of the greatest frontman/Prog guitarist in the scene he’s been a huge inspiration in my playing style, singing style, and writing style. I’m the rhythm guitarist and vocalist of my band. (My sound is not Åkerfeldt, I have no desire to copy, or steal his sound. Mine is my own. He purely is just a influence and huge at that). However, as a guitarist and Vocalist around this Modern Metal scene, I can completely agree with Mikael as every single band sounds like a god damn boy band on steroids. I may only be 20 but I was raised on Sabbath, Maiden, Metallica, Priest, Motörhead, Venom, Bathory...The Works, Like Father/Like Son I guess, my first album (technically I got two at the same time) was given to me at 4 (I still have both) “Ride the Lightning,” and Dad gave me his 1982 Unopened (still is) Copy of Maiden’s (it’s signed by Burr, Murray, and Smith and Harris-I don’t know where Dickinson was when he was getting it signed)-“Number of the Beast” (My generation has no taste in music 😭😭)

Amazing! The first time I heard iron man was on an 8 track cassette. It scared the fuck out of me! I was in 5th grade. I come to love em so much ( I can play more Black Sabbath songs than any other band i listen too) If you want to learn Metal, Listen to and learn Sabbath and strive to be like Opeth!

Hip-hop is amazing and opens many doors. It's sad Mikael distances himself from this music.

Malkovith1 Personally I love it. It’s okay for people not to though.

@@Malkovith2 but i think we all can agree, that the hip hop he was talking about (eg lil baby) is utter garbage

Oh really? I liked Heritage and Sorceress and everything else. I haven't heard an Opeth album I didn't like. They're always so fresh and creative but maintain the heart and soul that is central to every album.
