14:48 Awwww thank you guys! It was so much fun hanging out with you all during Railfest. I am working on a big project to tell the Overfair's Story. The first "chapter" will be done in June and will be on the @OverfairPacificRailroad channel (formerly Swanton Pacific). If you want to see the Overfair locomotives in-person, come out to the Best of the West Show at The Historic Santa Margarita Ranch during Memorial Day weekend!

6:35 has a story I would like to share. I volunteered there about 3 years ago and every morning they go out for an inspection and to wax the rails so the wheels don’t squeak when the trains go by since the curves are so tight. And to wax and you hold a candle off the edge of a flatbed and just put it up on the rail. Since I was the smallest one there at the time, it was easiest for me to do it since I had young bones and a good back. So we head out on the little red speeder and just reach the long section of straight track and outcomes Switch the railroad dog. He was over 10 years old and. The sweetest boxer dog I had ever seen. He get on the embankment above the rail line and starts running ahead and I felt like the 1860s when a horse would run by or even faster than a locomotive just a fun story and great place to volunteer.

The sun at the start of your journey reminds me of the time my girlfriend & I were having our road trip across the country to Colorado. Before we made it to your neck of the woods though, we were passing through Kansas City right at sunset. Man, nothing made the fact that we were experiencing our first grand adventure going west through the great plains quite as much as that long, long, long sunset right in front of our eyes, making it incredibly nerve-wracking to drive.

But just as fun is the feeling of having virtually come along to experience all this with you guys! Such a privilege. What an amazingly impressive railroad and crew. Thank you Brett for this latest video it was first rate. A triptych of the beautiful Hillcrest and Wahtoke RR for sure! So enjoyed this and many thanks again to you Brett, Leighton and the fabulous Professor for showing us around this railroad treasure! As always cheers to you guys!

0:10 - Back in my training time, we somehow ended up *constantly* running to Leipzig, back before the high speed line was built. So a few hours of running straight East in the morning and straight West in the afternoon/evening. Yeah. Always straight into the sun, especially in winter time. Great. 😂 1:00 - If I may give some constructive criticism; car noise lowers the intelligibility of the dialogue substantially, so the music was a bit too much in this instance. At least to me as a non-native speaker it was difficult to follow along what you were saying, which normally is not a problem at all on your videos. 2:09 - Love that motor draisine or whatever you'd call it. All in all, I really enjoyed that video. Seems like that was a marvellous field trip for all of you. Nice to see you enjoying yourself that much =) On a TOTALLY different note, but I might just drop it here just as well as anywhere else: Did you see the video from a few days ago of a tornado hitting a locomotive dead on, filmed by the train crew? I'm quite happy that's not something we deal with over here. The collegues stayed very cool and relaxed, which is the very right thing to do, but also astonishing in the extent shown. I'm quite confident I'd handle such a situation calmly, too - it's just what we as train drivers have to do. BUT I'd certainly have had some significantly shakier voice 😅

Thanks for the feedback my friend! Brett edited these videos as a huge help to me - I'll be sure to pass it along. Always more little details to learn in that space. I need to find a way to make the lav mics interface with phones, lol! I did see that tornado video. Scary as hell.

@andrewmagosky7181

Some of the miniature engines running these days are just as if not more historic and have more stories to tell than their full sized counterparts. For example; LBSC's original Ayesha, which proved that the coal fired fire tube boiler, was possible in 2.5" gauge still exists, still runs, and is pulled out for special occasions by its owner. It is an extremely important engine in the hobby! Miniature foaming is a very real thing 🤣

I think the steam boilers have to have their own yearly cert as well, but that might be just for insurance. If you're not open to the public and not going to kill anyone but yourself if it blows, insurance and therefore cert may be entirely your choice.
