Since making this video, I have added a new community metric score. Proton's community absolutely went nuclear on me for rating them #1, and flamed the shit out of me. Their mods supported it and removed the post gaslighting me claiming I was toxic. They've since been demoted since their community is not one I can endorse as a safe place for fair privacy discussion. They are still A tier but not one I will recommend as the GOAT due to these issues.

I get you but how does the community have anything to do with the performance, price, etc. of the vpn?

Why would Proton's community dislike someone rating their VPN as the best? That makes zero sense. Unless you meant to say "for NOT rating them #1" I am confused. I guess I'll find out when I finish the video

@@TomSparkReviews Well, I'd say their VPN isn't the best anyways. NordVPN is faster, has a better UI (easier to select specific locations), and is more reliable. I am saying this as someone who tried ProtonVPN as a replacement for Nord. It worked well for about a week and then refused to connect after that. It is unfortunate because I wanted to support a Swiss company. I will say that their DNS level ad block is better than Nord (which I used for Twitch), but what good is that if the VPN isn't reliable? Also, you can just connect to Romania (which I have been doing since switching back to Nord) to avoid ads on Twitch.

Ok....Good video but I'd like to see you/anyone mention 5 eyes 9 eyes 14 eyes alliance and why to avoid ANY VPN in those alliances.

Agreed. Most of these alliances are directed to the three-letter-agency or the alphabet agency. Such as the NSA, CIA, FBI, etc. I wish it would be added in the spreadsheet as feature. Maybe it will be improved some day or next year.

Interestingly, the tier list from Techlore is radically different. I appreciate the honesty in your reviews as you explicitly describe the weaknesses of each provider and what specific improvements are required. I do not understand why people take that as harassment.

Not a good listing, Proton VPN now does not have a no logging policy. Nord is owned by a shady VPN company.

Proton as a company is literally one of the most trusted, and yes protonvpn doesn’t store logs, for the nordvpn part, you’re right, but we have nothing to prove that nord is doing something shady

This is a lie - they state on their website that they have a no-logs policy: "In order to respect our users’ privacy, Proton VPN enforces a strict no-logs policy. This means we keep no session usage logs of what you do online, and we do not log metadata that can compromise your privacy."

nordvpn has a no logging policy with more than 4 audits of 3rd parties. Even though they seem "shady", in fact they are the best out there. Trust me I also had the same feeling, I think its because they seem so commercial that a lot of people think they're off to no good
