Bob Nudd's modesty, humility and likability is a lesson for us all.

It seems they was all like that especially the names he mentions like the great Ivan Marks, Ian Heaps. Modest, humble men who I believe were the best era of the sport.

Many thanks to you Matt and all the Guru team for this show ! I have been a French coarse fishing journalist for more than 35 years now and I have followed all the world championships since 1984. I obviously know Bob Nudd very well and I can assure you that he is still very much appreciated and also seen as a true legend in France.

Every time I see Bob live he radiates warmth and friendliness. He’s so humble. This is the best podcast full stop. Just because it’s Bob. What a truly great fishing legend he is and a great human being.

Use to watch his program on Discovery shed religiously as a kid the main reason I got into pole fishing, before youtube really took off there wasn’t anywhere to watch pole fishing unless you had the money to buy the dvds so Bobs course fishing show was all I had I would record them all then stay up all night watching them writing down tips and tricks he was such a positive influence in my life as a kid and I’m sure he was to many others a true true legend, he set the standard for match fishing a real master of his craft will always be my angling hero hope to see him on again one day amazing podcast 👏🏼

Congratulations on your achievements Bob - world class. Just to remind you that the name of the lady in the MBE photograph is Ann Freeman, wife of my late father and your Manager prior to and during your Four World Championship triumphs. Terry and Ann Freeman introduced Browning Fishing Tackle to the UK and if I recall, made you the highest paid professional angler in Europe at the time (plus car) and in tandem with your talents, helped to raise your profile, enormously, with TV appearances, books and of course his daughter, Julie Freeman and her team wrote and produced your record ‘Maggots in Your Catapult’. He died suddenly aged 47. Sorely missed. He was a huge advocate for you and I know that you would be the first to recognise that and give him credit for the part he played in your career.

I have been fortunate enough to meet Bob on a few occasions. We had lunch together at Bowood House, and he was kind enough to listen to my tale of woe vis a vis match results, and put me right with sage advice. He also cost me a quid, as he caught a roach first fish on the demonstration he was doing, and I had a bet on with my wife that his first fish would be a bream. What an absolute credit to the sport. Why he has not been knighted I will never know. Many sports people have, who deserve it much less. God bless you, Bob, and all who sail in you.

Watched Bob practice at Cornagrade when I was 20, im56 now! I was over there in Enniskillen with the Merseyside Fire Brigade on their National & spotted his sky blue Merc estate, all liveried up with Van den Eyde 3 x World Champion. Pole to hand. My fishing Mecca. Best Podcast to date until Alan & Kevin Do theirs. You have to get them on as this would mean so much & maybe inspire a resurgence in International Angling, which meant so much to me growing up with Angling Times/Mail and David Halls magazines. Cheers Matt & Toby & Guru for these Podcasts.

I really enjoyed this podcast cos it's put my faith back in fishing and with it not all about having all the best Tackle, I started back up last year to help with my mental health due to having to quit work to be my wife's full time carer after a subhacroid heamorage left her disabled , It's helped me to no end but I want to go with the times and buy a 14 metre pole and box with footplate ect but with the cost of living it seems a million miles away being on benefits but that's the life I am in now and it can happen to anybody , loved the podcast and thankyou love bob nudd .

Loved this podcast. So interesting to hear Bob Nudd saying he wasn’t a very good angler back in the day as to where he is now. Liked the story of Ireland where he mentioned staying at the Killyhevlin hotel in one of the lodges. I remember staying in one of the lodges in The grounds of Killyhevlin hotel so close to the river you could fish off the decking. This was in 2011.
