Produced and distributed by 20th Century Fox, the film's main cast includes Townsend, Michael Wright, Leon Robinson, Harry J. Lennix, Tico Wells, Harold Nicholas, and Diahann Carroll.The plot of the film (which is loosely based on the lives of several artists: The Dells, The Temptations, Four Tops, Wilson Pickett, James Brown, Frankie Lymon, Sam Cooke and others)follows the three decade career of the rhythm and blues vocal group The Five Heartbeats. I love heart is home and Eddie cane voice he was diffidently Eddie cane to us lol and ofc dresser who remind me of blue he held that bottom note and they killed that scene I love how they show them together and positive brother hood this movie was so good because it tackled everything that happened during those times and some things groups have to go through during that era. The Music in this movie had soul and heart felt especially Eddie cane singing I feel like going home that was the number one song in a black church that sent you no matter what and that take your time honey lol all of dat but this movie was everything the Nicolas brothers do need their own movie and bio pick especially how Harold did Dorthy Dandridge we side him til this day but they were very talented and could dance they behinds off my other favorite part is the end when the brothers reunite and JT names his kid after duck and the cook out scene. I love how the movie ended on a Happy note despite what they all been through thanks for covering this ❤

This is the review that i have been waiting for. Thank you so much. I would listen to my cousin recite this movie line for line. My favorite scene is when Eddie & Babydoll sung i feel like going on. Eddie’s actual last name was King. In the scene when Duck was following Tanya to the hotel the radio said Eddie King Jr. ex lead singer of the Five Heartbeats was involved in a shootout with the police in a liquor store robbery and was listed in critical condition. If you look up the cast online it has his name as Eddie King Jr. It was pronounced Kane due to the southern drawl. Robert Townsend said the break up of the Temptations inspired him to direct this movie. A lot of big names auditioned for this movie such as Don Cheadle, Jussie & Jurnee Smollet, Niecy Nash, Cynthia Bailey & George Gore II just to name a few. I read somewhere that Keenan Ivory Wayans was supposed to played JT but couldn’t due to In Living Color & Robert Townsend wanted David Alan Grier to play Dresser. This movie didn’t do well in theaters because 1991 was the year of the gangster hardcore movies such as New Jack City & Boyz N Da Hood. Roy Fegan (Bird) was in Hollywood Shuffle & he appeared on Martin & Hangin With Mr. Cooper. His son Roshon Fegan is an Actor as well. He was on Shake It Up on Disney, Greenleaf & he played Bobby Debarge in the Bobby Debarge story. Flash was also shady in She’s Gotta Have It & Def By Temptation. Tisha Campbell looks like Hawthrone James (Big Red). Jimmy Woodard (Myron from The Players Club) was one of the Midnight Falcons. Prior to this movie Michael Wright was on V: The Original Miniseries & The Principal.

I have been watching and re-watching this movie since childhood. So many quotable lines all throughout this film. Flash is a whole personality in my family that we call anyone that is ever trying to upstage or steal someone's spot. We be like go sit down Flash! 🤣🤣 Leon is a whole legend for starring in this movie and the Temptations. Baby sister definitely deserved another song in this movie. I'm still addressing Eddie as Eddie Cane Jr because that's what it always sounded like to me. And once I heard Eddie I never paid attention to Bobby's disappearance.
