As a student of the late Rudy West (lead singer of the Five Keys and Bill Kenny of the Ink Spots) I find it hard to describe the invaluable guidance of their vocal tutorialship. Yes sireee, these (2) vocal stylist left an impeccable mark for such as I and others to immulate. I'll always honor these (2) icons of my era, of whom I learnt much from.

What a GREAT version of a classic song from the greatest era in music history. This arrangement is excellent and is a perfect match for this outstanding group that did not receive the recognition they deserved. Thank you for posting this masterpiece.

I was born in 1937 and I grew up during the war with the big bands and then the 50's and rock and roll...I have cartons of 45's from those years...still have the very first 45 I ever bought and it was "Bermuda" by the Bell Sisters. Parents had just bought a Zenith radio.record player, tv combo...had to try out that 45 player!! And did you know there was a 16 rpm player for talking books...yes our player had 16/33/45/78 player!!

Many many young kids fell in love with each other listening to this beautiful music by such a great harmonious group as the Five Keys.....I was one of those young kids and this group was always one of my favorites. And I fully agree with TheTwins48 below me.

Hey Friends and lovers of the Golden days, this legendary group from Tidewater (Newport news, VA) could have set the bar much higher than the PLATTERS if they'd had adequate managment and maketing. It's no doubt that they were tops in the vocal stylizing categories of all Doo-wop groups-bar none! Like myself, they were tutored by the legendary 'Ink Spots'. You can hear Bill Kenny in Rudy's crystal clear tenor, can't you? (Milton Bullock formerly of The PLATTERS)

I was young (60 years ago), this song was playing at a local dance. I had danced with a certain girl at this weekly dance many times. I finally got the guts to attempt to kiss her while dancing. I loved her so much, she slapped me right in the face and never looked at me again.

I enjoy seeing the comments about everyone's favorite lead singers and I am certainly in agreement that Rudy West was right up there with Tony Williams, Willie Winfield and even the patriarch of leads-Bill Kenny...What I am surprised about, however, is that no one mentioned the absolutely incredible Joe Van Loan from the Ravens. He had an almost operatic sound that you should make a point of listening to if you never heard him (A Simple Prayer from 1956)

In my opinion, when it comes to lead singer's and who is the best, is like going to Ft. Knox and saying one bar of gold is better then the other.Leaving out Sonny Til, Willie Winfield Lilian Leach, Jimmy Beaumont,Earl Lewis,Richard Blandon, etc etc etc. Foolhardy . All is subjective.
