Graphically it was amazing for the time. Shit, if released now it would still get a pass graphically. However, that's really all it had. I mean, when playing through the story mode and the first move I unlock is the finisher I'm already using, I knew it was going to disappoint overall.

AEW Fight Forever might be one of the more disappointing wrestling games ever, game had so much hype, finally a wrestling game that wasn't WWE 2K or Fire Pro, and "Look guys we got the same people that had the iconic WWF No Mercy game to work on it so it'll just be just as fun" when in reality it was just dull and felt so bare bones.

I wouldn't put "Fight Forever" in a list of "worst", but definitely disappointing. The foundation was there, but they went in the wrong direction in trying to craft an experience in the same vein as the N64 classics. Instead of focusing on adding match types, improving the creation system, and fixing the bugs before it hit the streets instead of focusing on mini-games no one cared about, "Fight Forever" could've been the wrestling game equivalent of "No Man's Sky". Shocked "WCW Thunder" or "WCW Nitro" didn't make the list. Stiff, collision detection issues, terribly pixelated models, and a control scheme that obvious adopted the control from fighting games (in not in the way the "Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game" & "In Your House" did) made them rough experiences. Mind you, I spent my little, saved-up money on these games as a kid and spent way too many hours playing both to unlock everything. And in regards to broken games, very few major releases comes close to "WWE 2K20". I was able to do, I believe, four montage videos of glitches I experienced playing that game with one all from release day alone.

Same lol. Pre ordered, Created a character. I remember there was a quiz game in it. The questions were all random mid carders birthdays & what they did for a living, before wrestling lol. Who tf is gonna know that? & your characters stats were affected if you lose. & you can't Google because the questions are timed😂 That's not what stopped me playing it. I just never felt the appeal to turn it back on since.

TNA game shortcuts were that basically there was only 3 move sets available and everybody was the same size! It was off putting when you’re fighting Abyss with Christian Cage 😂. I remember it was very hard! But I was too deep in the controls of Smackdown vs Raw at that time! But I had fun with that game! And the graphics were awesome for the time! Story was a little rough and limited but it’s better than having none like FF.

The AEW game is… fine. I thought it played okay. Just needed more features. Kind of dumb that there was no cage match in a wrestling game in 2023. Also, the story mode was laughable. Gameplay-wise, I thought it was fun since it controlled like No Mercy. It’s a decent game that could have been a great game if they focused on fleshing out certain modes instead of adding mini games and charging through the nose for additional characters.

I got AEW and WWE for free via PS+. And in my very limited time with both of them, I'll give AEW the advantage from a gameplay standpoint as it does have that somewhat Revenge)No Mercy vibe to it. At some point I'm going to try to play both games to really give my full thoughts on it.

Honestly, the only wrestling games that could ever hold my attention are the Fire Pro Wrestling series. Every other wrestling game I ever played since childhood I either didn't like at all or I did like but would get bored with them after a few months. The Fire Pro games are the only ones I play consistently. I'd play one up until the next one came out and those only come out every like 10 or so years seems like.

While I disagree as I can name a number of other great wrestling games. Fire Pro is top tier. It’s so good and with release of Fire Pro World, it’ll never die. Just watching the CPU playing itself is fun. So good. You also can’t top the roster. I love fire pro.

As a wrestling fan and a Halo fan I only got an Xbox for Halo because Raw is easily one of the worst wrestling games and feels like a budget title and it came out a year after Halo CE which easily killed the hype for the game.

Fight Forever wasn't so bad, the main problem is that it was a $20 game masquerading as a $60 (+hundreds more for DLC to get the full game). Plus all the weird decisions like having 3 second entrances, all the mini-games that nobody played after the first time. The weird storyline where the only goal seems to be eating a new food in every city, and seeing your character standing in front of a 8th generation jpg of the Lincoln monument. It has the skeleton of a good game, but is nowhere near there yet.

I'd like to see a video where Stevie talks about playing fire pro and other games back in the day. Stuff like 6 man scramble and FPG moreso than more recent games because these were the big games during the ECW and attitude era when he was at his peak. I'll bet theres lots of stories of playing these games with the boys. Might not be able to share them all but I'll bet there's some good ones.

Worst I played was Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home. We actually called Blockbuster 10 minutes after getting back to my apartment asking if we could exchange it. Thankfully, they let us and we had a great time with The Simpsons' Road Rage.

AEW Fight Forever had a ton of issues. I’ve had almost every wrestling game ever made and its far from a top five worst wrestling game ever. It does feel unfinished and not up to 2024 standards. What people don’t talk about is that Bryan Williams was a part of the team initially for Yukes/AEW fight forever and was a key member of the team from the Smackdown vs Raw series. He left well before the game was finished to go work for 2k on wwe 2k23 and 24 which is probably why blood on mats and tossed weapon mechanics found in AEW fight forever were added to WWE 2k24.

WWF Warzone was terrible because it had alot of missing wrestlers especially Savio Vega, Vader, Chyna and Sable. I kind of like WWF warzone because it reminds me of Mortal Kombat 4 because of how dark the Raw arena is

The main problem with AEW's game is that it lacked any flow, it just feels dated and they didn't achieve the level of fluidity something like No Mercy or even Revenge had. It's the same problem the TNA game had. Those ECW games were somewhat enjoyable cause at least they were a straight up re-skin of older WWF Akklaim games. They were easily better than Nitro or Thunder on PS1. Backstage Assault was an all-around dumb idea cause they should have built upon the Mayhem engine, which wasn't atrocious. It's just that the models looked dull and without any personality and continuing that with a game without a ring was something only a guy like Vince Russo would have thought was a great idea.

Online play on the Steam Deck depends on the game and the developer. Some online games won't even run on the Steam Deck natively because the anti-chrat conflicts with Linux, and the Steam Deck's OS is based off of Linux. You can however flash Windows onto a micro SD card and dual-boot into Windows from the Steam Deck's bios.

Biggest problem I had with aew fight forever was that you couldn't really play a match past 5 minutes. The fatigue across all the characters made it where you couldn't do 10 to15 minute matches. The way I play wrestling games I like to have long matches, and you just couldn't do that in the game

Aew fight forever is a game released 2023 and it does look like it could be 15 years old, their Creation tools are lacking on all fronts, the roster was outdated asf when it got released and even they are missing basic things like commentary. It is one of the worst for sure, released 2023 but wouldn't even hang with some WWE games from two decades ago Saying it is playing like no mercy might be true but nobody asked for a new no mercy, people asked for a game with in ring action like no mercy but nobody asked for a aew copy of it, it's just lacking in modern standards, it's just one of the worst.

Given who's left in the industry these days I doubt another year or two eould have done any good. Many of the bigger companies either have all the best talent or have sent them packing. So if a company hasn't done much over the last five years they won't later on.

I really tried to support AEW: Fight Forever, got the game and season pass before release. Then they wanted more money so they put out more season passes including updated arenas and wrestlers that were signed to AEW since day one, all of which should have been included with the base game. They also promised to listen to fans and update the game, none of that ever happened; they just added a battle royale mode and more minigames no one wanted. The matches are also 3-5 minutes long which is dumb for a game called fight forever and represents AEW which is known for having longer average match times. The number 1 most requested change was an option to make the matches longer, but it still hasn't happened. At its core that game is fun, but they quickly ignored the fans and got greedy.

Being a wreslting game aficionado, AEW Fight Forever does not belong on that list. It was absolutely disappointing, mostly because the game modes around the game were not good at all. Just off the top of my head, Raw 1 on Xbox, Legends of Wrestling, WCW Nitro, Simpsons Wrestling, that god awful Hogan Kinect game, and even the WWF NES games are all worse in my opinion.

Fight Forever sadly can't carry No Mercy's jock. NM has a better CAW, better gameplay, story modes, and has Stevie (well, Steven) as a main eventer. 5 *s. TNA Impact was a good start...but had too few moves, there only felt like 2 styles of characters, submissions were poorly implemented, too. Lucha Libre Heroes Del Ring was one of the worst. I gave up when story mode threw me into handicap matches.

If they would just increase the Counter Window for Fight Forever it would drastically raise the fun factor. You just get your ass beat and don't counter anything to a satisfying degree. It doesn't even feel like the game is challenging you more so than you're just getting lucky the whole time you're playing. Creation Suite is horrible, the career mode is fun if it had better gameplay. The absolute worst Wrestling game you can ever play is Wrestlemania 21 for the Xbox.

AEW FF has a number of reasons why it failed, but none more significant (to me) than the addition of Signature moves to the AKI engine. It ruined the pacing of the matches because all you had to do was get a signature move and that led into the finish and it was over. The original AKI games having only a Special move forced you to actually wrestle and the more you landed different moves the quicker it accelerated. The signature move is a modern innovation of WWE games that doesn’t translate to the AKI engine at all.

It's amazing how many terrible or mediocre-at-best wrestling games out there, like far more mid than good. It's amazing you could narrow it down to five to be honest. Backyard Wrestling: There Goes The Neighborhood, Backyard Wrestling 2 (This one might be good but I never played it), WWF War Zone (Innovative for the time but it's aged terribly), WWE 2k20, WWF Super Wrestlemania (Again, it's aged terribly), the Legends of Wrestling games... The list could easily go on.

Midway did a pretty good job creating the TNA game from scratch. It did need more work though, so when the engine was reused by THQ for WWE All-Stars we got a much better game by then.

The Xbox 360 version also shipped with a bug where there wasn't enough sensitivity for the analogue stick when kicking out of pins so you had to wiggle 4x as much as other platforms. So Stevie probably had to deal with that too.

I've played plenty of wrestling games. I truly believe Fight Forever and TNA Impact! are nowhere near the top 5, let alone the worst wrestling games ever

Sony seriously restricts the ability to do cross play, if they don't think that they're making enough money off your game they essentially make you pay to enable it. Also Star Trek Bridge crew is one of the most amazing games I've ever played, it's like being nine years old again playing Star Trek with the couch cushions in all the best ways

the tna game was AWFUL, the actual gameplay... i loved the 2 ecw games tho, taz and raven were my favorite wrestlers in the late 90s

Funny thing is, if we didn't have the TNA Impact game, we wouldn't have had WWE All Stars since the same development team worked on both. And honestly, I think the biggest knock against Fight Forever doesn't come down to the gameplay (it does get points for unique wrestler mechanics like Orange Cassidy's hands-in-pockets moves and letting you ride around on Darby's skateboard for starters). The biggest issue is the very mediocre creation suite. Like we all know how bad WWE 2K20 is but at least, if you just wanted to make spiteful creations rather than earnest ones, you still could with a variety of options and about 10 times more detail and depth than Fight Forever. I'll give Fight Forever credit for having an absolute boatload of moves to choose from and new move situations compared to the N64 AKI games. It's also nice to be able to customize entrances to include things like security guards or Kenny's Cleaner Girls but there should have been an option to have full entrances thanks to how short they actually are. I understand why, so players can get right into the action after a little intro but for wrestling fans who enjoy running e-feds or prefer a more grand presentation of wrestling, it can feel a little deflating that you can't really create a "big match feel." But the worst of it is the *very* limited Create-A-Wrestler options. Like holy shit, I think going through the options was the very first time I've ever felt mad at Create-A-Wrestler. Say what you will about Backstage Assault but you could still make some hilarious monstrosities. You can't even make a barely passable Roman Reigns or John Cena in Fight Forever, you're better off going on PC and modding in WWE 2K character models. You can't even make deformed shitpost wrestlers, which I bet you is about what more than half of wrestling gamers do first when picking up a new wrestling game.

WCW on the NES was crippled by the fact that you were pretty much screwed unless you had turbo controllers. Apart from that, the game was pretty good. Btw, I read somewhere that the wrestlers who had more influence at the time inserted themselves as the playable characters on the game. Also, most of the wrestlers in the game had left the company by the time the game was released.

Steam Deck is just a portable console that runs Steam. So you can play together already with Steam accounts, you don't both need a Deck

Yes you can use a steam deck to play online. It works like a pc, its a mini laptop.

The WCW backstage game can't be the number one worst because it came out in 2000......... the aew game just came out and it looks like it came out in 2000. That makes the aew game worse.

wcw mayhem and thunder were pretty bad too…clunky controls and subpar graphics compared to wcw/nwo revenge which was fantastic..

I bought AEW FF day one. Story mode is horrible. There's no getting around that. The store was a decent idea from way back in the day but was rarely ever updated for new parts, entrances, etc. I remember telling people, at that time, that the game is ehhh. Like it's a good starting point and there could be something there, but definitely not worth anywhere near full price. Then you got the overpriced DLC/Season packs and it just all went down hill and I'd never recommend it to anyone. Some friends got it for free through PSN a couple of months back I think and we still don't play it. I mean how bad does something have to be that even when you get it for free and is something you're interested in (wrestling) that you won't play it?
