It seems widely accepted that they were working towards Eddie eventually going over Batista for the WHC. So those losses were maybe just part of the build.

. The funniest thing about that storyline, which James mentioned, is that Eddie lost at every pay-per- View . Then after he beats Mysterio one time in that cage match Palmer Cannon names him the number one Contender for the world title.

You guys nailed it at the end. I've always felt it had a lot to do with Eddie's heel turn. His heel turn started with the simple story that he couldn't beat Rey Mysterio, and then every subsequent match after turning heel he *still* couldn't beat Rey Mysterio. Then in the middle of it at One Night Stand they didn't put him over Benoit who WWE was very much shuffling to the upper-mid card at the time. They never let Eddie get an ounce of momentum as a heel. He was still so good it really didn't matter anyway, but I imagine it must have been frustrating.

It’s hard to see anything with the rewind & forward constantly. It would be helpful to show the video at normal speed, then go back and talk and stop and rewind and slow-mo it. Just giving constructive criticism because I’m very interested in these videos you do. Thank you 😎

They probably had a lot of great ideas and couldn't come to an agreement on finish or too many good ideas clashing. Or Chris wanted to rematch Sabu as they have history. But at end of the day they were best friends and most probably didn't want a face v face friendly pals act match. They needed tension to get into it. Heyman would stir the pot surely.

I dunno, makes sense to me? I can’t really enjoy Cosby standup in the same way, or Michael Jackson’s music as innocently as I once could as a child in the 1980s. Not because I have some serious moral stance or because I’m trying to be preachy, it’s actually like…. I just honestly cannot enjoy it anymore because of some associative sense of guilt that consistently distracts me.

One of my favorite Bret Hart promos came from WCW. When he was the US Champ he had a backstage promo with Mean Gene and he said that he was going to be a fighting champion, then he named El Dandy as his next opponent. We all know what he said next.

two matches you have to do are the infamous apa vs public enemy on sunday night heat. Apa just straight up whooped PE's asses. then the often forgotten follow up. apa vs dudleys on sunday night heat. Here you have another legendary ecw tag team facing the backstage bullies. the expectation was the dudleys were going to get stomped and go running to the hills like PE. instead they fought back. since they did fight back, bradshaw and simmons gave them the seal of approval.
