I agree with what some of these other guys are saying, if you wrap the exhaust good that’s probably gonna be your best bet, or if you can find a heat shield from a scrap yard or something, that stuff is super soft so it would be easy to form however you want then just weld a couple studs to the floor there where the exhaust is close and holt it up that way, any aluminum heat shield would work. Great build man love watching your videos, keep up the great work

I think for the exhaust you can easily get away with a quality wrap. Soak it in water first. It makes it easier to work with and form better as it dries. The problem with a heat shield. They eventually work loose. Then in a tight area such as that, they rattle and vibrant. So it would drive you nuts. You would rip it out on the trail and go with nothing. Until you get to where you can wrap it anyway. On the inside of the cab. You have the raptor liner. But you can get the adhesive sound deadner / heat shield. To cover the floor and it will make a difference in noise and heat. Then just cover it with a good rubber floor cover. With some quality rubber floor mats. All of which will look good, prevent a hot floor, and still allow easy cleaning. Curious question, did you route your power steering lines through a cooler ? This rig looks great. It's really fun to watch. As are all your builds. I really appreciate and respect your attention to detail. It's getting close to completion and this is the best part of the build. Just taking everything one step at a time and making it right. You truly need to showing at SEMA.

@@austinniemela sure! The wrap would look cleaner and you can always add the heat shielding if it gets to be an issue later

Yep, that's Coolerman from IH8MUD......his knowledge is SUPER helpful. And Yes, Toyota swapped the wires midway through the circuit....super frustratiing. Also, the wipers work by completing the ground through the switch for the different speeds (only a single power wire coming in). I spent a couple of weekends refurbishing mine and bench testing to make sure Hi / Low / Park all worked properly.

This rig is going to be sweet! You should install a button for the whispers to cycle one time. Wire it into that plug so you don’t have to pull the switch out for the quick whipe. A snowcat I operated had the button on the floor so you could push it with your foot to clear the window. Maybe install the button on the steering column? Real handy.

If you plan to take the rig in any mud or water, do not wrap the exhaust/headers. It's known at least in the jeep world to rust the exhaust/headers faster. I'd assume the same goes for the fj's or any wrap taken off road through mud/water.

Wrapping the exhaust, while it is a good idea it can also lead to premature degradation of the stainless. Some may not agree with me, but i have first hand experience with exhaust wrap and its effects. I would suggest goin to the scrap/slavage yards and get some heat shielding out of som bmw. It works really really well, som of bmw heat shielding are aluminium and som are stainless steel. Hope this helps.

Hey. Love the build so far. Please change that brass elbow that you used on the aluminium pipe adaptor. Galvanic corrosion will occur between aluminium and brass.

There's a coating that helps with heat and then a wrap would take care of your issue. Awesome build !

Для крепления теплового экрана, к самуму выпускному тракту привариваются гайки и, к ним, болтами с широкой шляпкой, прикручивается экран. Ширина гайки- и будет зазор между трубой и экраном.

I used ceramic coating and wrap on the headers for my LS3-powered Seven. It helped considerably as the header was located next to my footwell.

That flex exhaust on the part that goes across the trans is pointless no? Both pieces it connects to are bolted to the headers. Just one after the y would work. Lookin' good!

Not pointless! With welding the pipe kept shrinking and won't fit correctly. Also while the engine heats and cools it moves, can cause the pipe to crack
