The show was very different from what we typically see at rock shows in the Northwest, but overall, it was a good show and I came away from it with some good finds.
You should also pop into the AZ Rockhound Expeditions ‪@AZRockhoundExpeditions‬ channel and say hello!

Those magazines were a super neat find! I would love to get a hold of a set of those! And your scepters were beautiful! And your other micro minerals were awesome! Thank you for showing us parts of the show! And how cool to run into Julie and Brian! Great video Jared and Sara!

I remember one of my science teachers in junior high had those Earth Science magazines you could check out from him, I did bring home quite a few. I’d like to find a set of those! I did find some of the prices higher than usual, but then again it was our first time at the Flagg show so maybe that was normal. Good seeing you and Sarah at the show!

I’m so disappointed I missed you! I went all 3 days too. The 50% sales are real and sometimes even deeper discounts are offered. There were a lot of vendors that closed up early on Sunday .. Friday & Saturday was bustling. Hope you come back to AZ!

Thanks for the video Jared. Tucson show is definitely a place to go! Best IMO show areas are Miners co-op , kino complex, and 22nd St. Unfortunately I have seen over the past 8 yrs prices for everything (rocks, minerals) have jumped up 200-300%. Never hurts to look.

I'm cheap, that being said, most of my water systems are gravity fed. I found an old plastic "corner aquarium" and the reservoir is diamond shaped, it looks awesome over my wet tools you need this feature for that diamond shaped arbor.

Good find on those magazines. Well sure, we watch your shows! I'm finding mineral prices are rising in general..I was looking at my catalog ad saw a piece I bought in 2004 and I was looking to buy another in 2024. I paid just under $30 for the thumbnail in 2004. Seemed like a lot then. In 2024, 20 years later, it had risen more than 3 times in fact it was almost 4 times the price. It was $115.00 in 2024 for the same species, same locality, and same size.

Thank you! They certainly do seem to be rising in just the past few years alone. I have seen some big increases.

so my father told me that those metal cups at the 19:00 mark are identical to a part he would use as a semi truck mechanic. just a random thought if you are ever trying to find new ones.

I love that arbor! These prices I see at shows are insanity. I can buy 25lbs of premium Brazilian agates from Kingsley North, cut them into slabs and make a fortune right??? 😂 Idk some of these prices people put on there pcs are ridiculous. Have a great day!

Thanks man, I need to do some rebuilding on it but I'm sure it will have a long life. Yeah, some of the prices are out of my league for sure.

Check out Tucson show to really get overwhelmed. The sticker shock is par for the course. With the Boomers retiring, the mineral world has grown considerably with "retired vendors". Me I'm a retired collector, LOL. Thanks for sharing!

Not to disagree on the origin of that arbor, but I snapped a screenshot of a Diamond Star that looks very similar. I really need to compare the clam shell bolt pattern. The Diamond star has a raised square with a small 5 point star in the center on the front of the casting. Possibly yours is a separate run of a similar casting, or a clone. Just a bit of FYI, I can email this screenshot if you're interested.

Great to have an idea as to what is going on in other states. If you price your product at too low of a price people might think it's not worth anything, if you raise it ridiculously high then they just have to get it because it's got to be something right? You either know, or you pay for it. Great score it looks like overall though.

Too bad you did not get to visit the entire show. Probably saved you a bunch of money. I usually walk through and entire show without making any purchases, then make a second round to actually shop. It's annoying to make a purchase only to find something better and cheaper at another booth. It looks like it was a nice sunny day though.

I had no clue there was a rock mineral show in Mesa. Which is closest to me compared to Tucson and Quartzsite. But after watching rockhounds at these shows I’m 💯 with in shock with the prices. $50 for a small slab is absolutely ridiculous. I refuse to pay what they want at these shows. They continue with these prices they are going to run a lot of people off from going to these shows.
