I thank you for this tour! My wife doesn't, as she knows we will have to go there next year and spend lots and lots of money. I may have to join that 12 Step program!
@adventuresofshadowdog11 күн бұрын
Hahaha! I can sympathize with your wife cuz I blew out my budget! There is just so much there and so many cool things people have made out of rocks and gems. If that happens to you, just blame it on me. Lol.😂

To think most if not all of those beautiful rocks have taken millions of years to form! I've always been fascinated with colourful and strange rocks from childhood! As a side note, I'm buying my first ever "rock" from space next month! I'm buying it from a certified Meteorite dealer here in the UK!
@adventuresofshadowdog11 күн бұрын
A rock from space! Wow! Thats awesome. There are places people go to hunt for meteorites. Usually big, flat, dried up lake beds or salt flats where you can see them. I’ve never done it. Your comment has now sparked my interest. I’ll have to research the subject and maybe give it a try. It would be amazing to find one. Thanks for commenting! 😎

Metorific material is way more complicated than we know. What type, complexity, age, & astonshmtism, are all there!☄️
@wesleydonnelly214110 күн бұрын
@@adventuresofshadowdog Oh wow that's ace! Glad I have peaked your interest, I only came across the subject some weeks back myself! I am actually planning to buy a metal detector and travel to some good spots where I could find them! I've even heard you can find tiny grain sized meteorites on top of flat roofs, but using a strong magnet! 😎👍
@adventuresofshadowdog10 күн бұрын
Yes I too have heard that very small micro-meteorites are on top of roofs and in drainage gutters, etc. And they are everywhere. Very interesting topic indeed.

That was petrified opalized wood. It is the first time I have seen petrified opalized wood. I’m very familiar with agatized petrified wood. But up till now I had never seen opalized petrified wood. Thanks for asking. That was a good question! 😎

Does the show take place every weekend or next years dates. Thank you
@adventuresofshadowdog10 күн бұрын
The show is once a year, sometime in Jan/Feb. if you google Quartzite Desert Gem and Mineral Show, you can find the dates. I don’t know if 2026 dates are out yet. But I do know it is an annual show around the same time. I hope this helps!

Hey Lance! I have 2 days in Arizona (+7 hour drive to quartzite), I was gonna go to the Tucson show, I’m trying to get a stone for a ring (sapphire?) do you think it’s worth it to make this trek?
@adventuresofshadowdog2 күн бұрын
I sure don’t want to steer you wrong. My thoughts are that if you can make it to the Tuscon show, you don’t need to go to the Quartzite show. Which show is closest to you? Also, when I was at Quartzite, there were more vendors than now. The Desert Gardens show is still open, but the Pow Wow show has since closed. So I think you’ll find more vendors now in Tuscon. Double check me so that I don’t steer you wrong. But that’s my understanding. I hope this helps.

@ thanks Lance! I’ll research more

Did you find the prices reasonable?
@adventuresofshadowdog7 күн бұрын
Yes, very much so. Keep in mind this is a show where many retailers go to buy their products to sell in their shops. Also you can and should negotiate some. I’m a wimp in that area and didn’t try. I thought the prices were super reasonable. But others around me were usually bargaining some. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching! 😎
