During The run, the engine's brakes would not work. the brakes caught on fire, even if they were made of metal. The train went faster and faster, and reached over a speed of 129 MPH. Witnesses nearby took photos. A Shunter Locomotive, Pushing Fuel Tankers, was set on the same track as the "Runaway Hell" Then, Disaster struck. The Locomotive exploded and derailed. the cars behind it were crushed and set on fire. Then, Everything Stopped. out of all 370 Passengers onboard, only one survived.

James was with task of taking a passenger train from Maron to Knapford. During the way, The red engine felt something he burst in flames. He didn't stop until he crashed into some tankers that Rosie had arranged for Class 40's train. A statue of the NWR's Number 5 was held up at Tidmouth Station that "Rest In Peace, James The Splendid Red Engine." But unknown to us, The society at Vicarstown known as the (Information Classified) had contaimed the water using oil.

The way i see it- that despite being real close as you say (which is true) atleast any derailment or any possibly any type of actual damage was already all taken by the oil tankers + brakevan since it was all infront of her- so she if anything probably just have alot burnt marks and scratches here and there due to the flying debris (but yeah i dont blame you- it does seem odd)-

I have to say I am pretty shocked I’ve never heard James’s whistle sound like that when he was on fire even though it’s super scary and extremely painful for an engine to be on fire especially someone as loyal and very nice and sometimes grumpy because of trucks but James the number five red engine is still a really useful engine that is what sir toppon hat says
