Still was dumb since like he said there should've been multiple angles in the store since grocery stores have a ton of cameras in multiple areas just having one that has to be perfectly positioned at his Dad's face is ridiculous plus too they could've brought in multiple witnesses as he stated. It makes no logical sense to not include the people at the store like say store workers hell, even a damn cashier person who cashed his order out could've testified. Plus did Barry not at all forget that he heard his mom scream even before his dad heard her? Even too he saw his dad outside before he rushed in the house after hearing her scream. So it makes no sense too why he was arrested since they had multiple instances on proof he didn't do it. Funny despite the cw Flash being not as good with stuff at least they got the death of Barry's mom better since it was literally at night and a giant whirlwind of lighting yellow and red was rushing around her and both Barry and his dad were confused and shocked by what was going on around them.

The answer to why not is obviously money, but it would have been amazing to have some of the writers from the animated series created the screenplays for the movies. I could only imagine how good a well written live action version of "The Once and Future Thing" or "The Terror Beyond" episodes from Justice League cartoon would be.

A thought that's been stuck in my head ever since I saw this movie is that it might have been a lot better as an Elseworlds-type movie focused on Keaton's Batman and Calle's Supergirl. A movie about an older, jaded Batman helping a more cynical super-person become a hero just sounds like such a fun movie idea. It also could have been a nice twist on the usual Batman-Superman dynamic. I don't know, it could just be me. Keaton's Batman and Calle's Supergirl were my favorite parts of the movie, but both were criminally underutilized. Overall, I didn't hate the movie but it did feel lacking compared to the original Flashpoint comic and animated movie. Maybe if it wasn't trying to adapt Flashpoint it would have been stronger, but based on all the behind the scenes drama, maybe it was a long lost cause.

Imagine if the film was about Flash vs. Reverse Flash, with the Story being that an Evil Speedster is committing a series of serial murders & other crimes, intentionally giving everyone the impression that the Flash is committing the crimes. This would be a good detective story for both Barry (a CSI) & Iris (an Investigative Reporter). Barry would find out and have to prove that this Evil Speedster Thawne is the Speedster that is not only framing him but also murdered his mom.

Should've ignored the flashpoint story entirely and gone with a calculating master diversionist captain cold. Play it completely straight with misdirections, freeze bombs, forced choices to catch him or save the day. Make the entire movie about flash being forced into bad choice after choice and eventually asking for Batmans help getting ahead of the destruction to unravel misc general cold trying to solidify himself as a national crime lord. Now that would've been good writing.

DC already has a solid blueprint with their series of animated movies that started at Flashpoint Paradox and ended at JLD Apokolips War. I really don't understand why they never just did live action adaptations of that series. It'd give them a decent plan for like 15 or 16 movies. You could still have your origin type stuff with the new Superman movie and it'd even be possible to retain Pattinson for Batman then just move into Flashpoint Paradox kicking off Darkseid's intro. It may not be the best option but it's way better than how they handled these movies.

Thomas’ whole character was much more rugged, fierce, and way more willing to get his hands dirty even with petty criminals. Strictly because, his son Bruce died at the mugging instead of him. This mivie could have been better, A LOT BETTER, but, it was great seeing Michael Keaton as Batman one last time. The original ending had Henry Cavill and Sasha Calle's Supergirl and Superman teaming up with Keaton's Batman alongside Barry Allen after Batman (Bruce 89) realized that Barry had altered the timeline. Suddenly, Bruce 89 receives a message on his phone as the security monitors have picked up something. The four of them head to Bat cave, and look at the video monitors, where its revealed that Batfleck and the other Justice League members are trapped in the Knightmare World, as Batfleck urges Barry to find them and bring them home. "Find us, Barry, find us and bring us home," says Batfleck. Barry asks Bruce, "Ready to save the world one last time?" Bruce says, "I thought you never asked, kid". This would have led to the Crisis On Infinite Earths movie that sadly will never happen.

Thomas and Martha became Batman and Joker respectively not because of "what ifs" or fanservice, but it is relevant to the story where Flash inadvertently changed the history where Bruce had to die instead. I will give this version of Batman the benefit of the doubt. In most Batman media he spends countless years of his younger life training and practicing discipline in crime fighting. His whole life is shaped by this. So take away the one thing that keeps Batman busy, the one thing he essentially spent his whole life training against. So yea he may be happy that he achieved his ultimate goal, but look at it more so in the lines of a man with no drive or passion. The one thing that took up the majority of his attention, basically his life’s work, isn’t something that he could do snymore

I honestly really liked it. It felt rushed, and the founding emotion / inspiration to make it was 'Marvel has a multiverse thing, we need to do it too to make money while people still into this stuff', so whatever we were going to get was going to be a wannabe of something we already have and enjoyed thoroughly. So.... I just lowered my expectations of it and it met them nicely. Is nowhere near as good as Endgame or Infinity War but in my opinion those were anomalies. Once a generation kind of movies. We should hold those on a very very high pedestal and not mock those who fail to reach that height. It's tremendously difficult to achieve. So what did we get? DCs attempt at a multiverse flick. That makes sense... fits within the lore... is an adaptation of a pre-existing story in the comics... and in terms of what they could give us with that? They delivered some awesome scenes and experiences. Keaton returning briefly as his iteration of the Bat was fantastic. Bringing him out of retirement with all his old analogue gadgets. The batwing being lowered down on pulleys and cables. PERFECT!!! Did you know he refused to have his Batsuit upgraded to allow for more mobility???? He felt that the rigid lean he needed to do in the old batsuit was part of his Batman's identity and character, so he refused the upgrade. TOP G!!! His fight scene was absolutely epic. No cuts, no wobbly camera, just Batman trying to take down a 7 foot tall Kryptonian, with everything he has, and it's utterly fantastic to see on screen in 4k. That last battle scene was a mess but ultimately so entertaining and enjoyable to watch as a standalone experience. And then, we get WEIRD cameos. Christopher Reeves Superman????? A black and white Superman? NICHOLAS CAGE AS SUPERMAN?????? How can you watch that and be angry at what you're seeing? You're inventing reasons to be angry. Choosing to be angry. The only thing I can really say was BAD in this movie was some of the speed force CGI. I actually laughed at some of that.

They really though this would be a hit despite the controversies of its lead and the underperforming nature of recent DCEU films. Minor thing, but worth mentioning - Barry doesn't move the security camera at the end to help his dad. He actually moves the tomato sauce up to the top shelf, so later his father would have to reach up to get it, thus making it possible for the camera to capture his face. Same result, just want to clarify the details as to what happened.

The problem with DC in general is that they're trying way too hard to catch up with Marvel. Marvel took their time over a span of almost 10 years of each major character until Avengers. DC movies is like a collection of individual great scenes glued together without a consistent storyline. Marvel on the other hand even with bad CGI it can be forgiven with a good storyline. This all started out in comics and we all got hooked because of a storyline.

I have a question that no website or youtuber seem to address. My question is - If Barry had the ability to reverse time (and mind you not time travel) in the movie Justice League in order to revive Superman as well as during the Unity explosion event without altering realties or creating sphaghetti timelines why couldn’t he do the same in The Flash without effecting timelines? He could just reverse time without having to travel back in time and thwart his mother’s death without effecting the present timeline.

I think that "The Flash" movie did have some virtues: Michael Keaton's return as the 89 to 92, Batman with his art direction style; Sasha Calle's incarnation of Supergirl, which is different than anything we've seen before; and despite the CGI in The Multiverse, the 2 Barry Allen's on the silver screen was extraordinarily seamless and did somewhat elevate the proceedings. "Spider-Man, No Way Home" did do the multiverse better.

I really liked the sentimental aspects of the film. When [SPOILER ALERT] Barry says good-bye to his mom, that was so tough but heart-warming to watch. All the actors were great (even Ezra, who gave off Wally West vibes with the goofiness), the action was fun, the comedy was better and more natural for a DC film, but the story progression overall was a little weaker. I enjoyed it for what it was, but in terms of world building? I mean, it’s another big-time storyline being used for (what was at the time) for a universe-building movie. That just… doesn’t always work out

I feel like they banked everything on those scenes but cause of the bullshit around it I never got as invested as the animated Flashpoint adaptation where his moments with his mother felt so very ephemeral. Like for example he was coming home from school before he came upon his mother dead or in the changed world he couldn't see her one last time before Thomas told him to unmake this sad world by stopping his past self. The parting gift was the fact that he remembered the times they spent in that world. Like my god they can't beat that animated movie.

They originally wanted to do the comic book storyline. I honestly feel the reason why they didn't want to do the actual flashpoint story was mainly as a cost cutting measure they probably wanted to keep the cast small because the production got out of control. They probably would've had to spend a lot more to get main cast of the justice league to return then two actors to play Thomas and Martha then cast Reverse Flash. Suffice to say its backfired spectacularly.

As far as Kara getting killed, they didn't ignore lore. She was kept in an underground prison for years, with no access to the sun. Kal was raised on a farm, out in the sun for many years. The reason he didn't immediately lose to Zod was because his strength and durability was bolstered by years of yellow sun rays, but Zod being a soldier was able to quickly adapt. Kara died because she was facing a much more superior fighter with absolutely no vital sunlight bolstering her. The Flash movie may have failed on many points, but honestly? This was one of its strongest.

I don't disagree substantively with any of your claims, but for me the film was a lot of fun! It was well-paced, imaginative, and had a lot of laughs. I thought the idea of doing a buddy comedy, or a young rookie/older mentor dynamic, using the same actor playing the same character at different stages in his life was brilliant, and Miller carries it off competently. Supergirl is quite compelling, although it's mostly her face: not only is she beautiful, but she projects intense emotions really well, often without speaking. It was nice seeing them adapting a story from the comics--or from the DCAU since they adapted "Flashpoint" already, which people have been asking Warner to do for years--and I like the imaginative use of Barry's powers. I didn't have high expectations, and consequently this is the Snyderverse film I enjoyed the most. It was a lot easier to enjoy movies before the Internet.
