If you have anything to do with the flower world, I am sure you have heard of Erin Benzakein and her team at Floret Flowers. She is a widely known and respected flower farm and breeder and just launched new varieties of zinnias, celosia and dahlias this past year that she has been breeding for almost a decade. I got my hands on 4 varieties of zinnias and in this video I will show how they all look and give you my opinion on... Was the hype correct? Are they worth your time and $?

I am really impressed so far. I ordered dawn creek peach, precious metals, alpenglow, and unicorn mix. The dawn creek peach and precious metals just started blooming. Excellent germination, and the plants are really robust and don't have powdery mildew like other zinnias so far. The precious metals I have so far are so unusual and beautiful. The blooms I'm getting are a grayish purple and do look like a metal. The peach are a beautiful subdued color. So far all mine are single blooms. I'm looking forward to see what the unicorn mix and alpenglow turn out like. It was worth every penny to me. 🌸

I purchased Alpenglow and Precious Metals and have found that my plants are not as hardy as other varieties I have grown in the past. For the price, I don’t feel it was worth it and I probably won’t purchase them again. The Celosia, on the other hand, is doing very well.

I’m also growing the Floret Zinnias seeds. Mine are not in blooms yet. I’m a little disappointed by what I’m seeing to be honest. Looks like a lot of single petals. I already grew a mix called Peaches and Cream from a Canadian supplier so I’m really hoping the Floret zinnia will deliver what was marketed. When you look at the pictures and videos of her new series they are all these beautiful double blooms. I’m also growing the celosia and so far they are extremely short.

Two years ago I got Little Flower Girl. Good germination, flowers as described. Smaller flowers in nice soft colors. I also got Unicorn then. Not like the photos, too much variation, and lower germination rate. This year I got Golden Hour and am very pleased with it. Good strong plants, mostly semi doubles in a lovely creamy color that gets more pink with age, and with only small variation. I'm saving seeds from these.

Very cool! Just wondering if you have in the past grown Johnny's Seeds Zinderella peach and Queeny Limes--they have that more peachy, pastel look. If you have, love to hear how they compare with the Floret series. I am trying the above varieties but up here in the Pacific Northwest they are only 3 inches high yet after a cool wet spring. Heat has now arrived so we shall see!

Bought 6 packs of Floret. Around 40 plants grew from all those packs and survived. Some of the zinnias are absolutely beautiful (e.g. the orange with pink interior petals and a pink center). However, I also had full packages only germinate 2 seeds. That was disappointing and not worth the money. I can't justify $20 for 25 seeds with that germination risk. Price point needs work for me to purchase again. I had one lovely muted red one that was a strong double, absolutely stunning, but I only had one flower that way and haven't seen that color or style since in my flower patch.

Did you direct sow or start indoors. I’m in SW Washington, and this is the first week of great temps, so mine were mostly started indoors. I’ve been unsuccessful at direct sowing them so far, but had almost 100% germination by starting them inside. It may have to do with our weather, or maybe they just do better being started in a greenhouse or indoors.

@@summerskyegardens I usually just broadcast them in the garden bed that gets nice sun and water from a sprinkler system. I have always had super displays of zinnias, so I splurged on these $25 seeds!
