@@wookieeMan06 No he wasn't Adrian Street was a Welsh Blue Collar Guy pretending to be gay,Adrian Adonis was the American Pat Patterson and he loved smoking pole. Adonis was known to give stinkface to the jobbers backstage in hopes one of them would then try to eat his **hole.

always felt the only reason he was a heel was because he was positioned against Hogan but Piper was more or less Piper when he was a "heel" and when he turned babyface. loud, brash, quick with an insult, etc

Adonis' temper tantrum at the end is what sold the promo. When we were teenagers watching this you never really pay attention to the dialogue or the acts so to speak. We were only concerned with "hey cool, it's Piper and Adrian". Now that I'm in my late forties re-watching these I am laughing my ass off at how real they made it seem and how masterfully they were able to put each other over.

The ironic thing about the war between Piper's Pit and The Flower Shop is that Rowdy Roddy Piper and Adrian Adonis was actually close friends. As a kid when this was on, I did know wrestling was staged, but I believed the characters were real. You would have actually thought Piper and Adonis actually hated each other from these skits, and their match at WrestleMania III. Piper gave the eulogy at Adonis' funeral and commented how he never got over Adrian Adonis' death. I believe that when Piper passed away it was Adrian Adonis who led him into the afterlife.

The truth of the matter is most of the flower shops were taped every 3rd Tuesday in Poughkeepsie NY at the Mid Hudson Civic Center and they drew little fan reaction. This Flower-shop, according to another poster was taped in Providence RI. I believe him b/c Poughkeepsie was easy to spot. It stuck out like a sore thumb due to having had bright Orange, round 18" Heating/AC tubes that hung from black girders and ceiling, and the stands behind the far side of the ring were also bright orange. Vince dubbed in sound afterward to get the desired effect on the finished FS product. Whereas Piper drew legit heat for the Pit and didn't need to have sound-doctoring. The most famous example of this was Piper coming out with the spotlights down and a producer standing off to the side flashing Piper count-down hand signals. Piper starts in, in his high pitched whine/snarl/wiseass tone: "Ya know, (mocking wiseass chortle) we came here to Poughkeepsie early today with the intent of having a beauty contest here on Pipers Pit tonight. (mocking wiseass chortle)(Producer is now down to both hands fully extended to signal 10 seconds to Roddy.) But we looked. And we look. And we looked. And we discovered much to our dismay, there NO beautiful women in Poughkeepsie!!" Piper hits the last syllable of Poughkeepsie just as Producer is starting to close his last finger. Tremendous BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO knee-jerk reaction from the sold-out crowd as spotlights come up, red light on the camera goes on and Piper shouts into his mic above the tremendous amount of heat: "Welcome to Piper's Pit ..." Piper said it himself many times. He was a genius at ring psychology. The Pit and the Flower-Shop were both set up on a permanent theatre type stage which would have been about 3 inches below the bottom right of your TV screen, behind about 30 rows of ringside chairs set up on the concrete floor below. Vince and Bruno/Jesse were set up at their broadcast table with monitors on the opposite side of the stage - about 3 inches below the bottom Left-hand side of your TV screen. The main camera was mounted on a skid and located in the middle of the stage. The wrestlers would always enter from the right bottom diagonal corner of your TV screen to get to the ring in the center of your picture. To get to the Pit or Flower-shop the camera would simply swivel 90 degrees to its right, zoom, and focus. It was a great run in the years when Vince taped three hours of his "A" show "Superstars of Wrestling?" in a row up there in Poughkeepsie every third Tuesday. Shane would show up every now and then to go to the ring to fetch something or other. He was about 16 years old. I remember them taping on the day the Shuttle Challenger blew up. It's hard to believe that will be 35 years next month One Flower-shop incident that did happen was Adrian receiving a broken forearm for real during an all hell breaks loose segment, like this one when he accidentally got his arm in the way of a swinging chair and the frame of the chair caught the long bone of the forearm that runs from wristbone to inside elbow, perfectly perpendicular. You could tell right away by the way he slowly shook his arm while trying to shake the pain off, the expressions of pain on his face, and then gingerly cradling it that you'd just witnessed an accident. In pro-wrestling, when you miss, you hit. Adrian wore a non-gimmick cast for several weeks after the accident. I felt bad for him. It looked extremely painful.

Haha yup. I severely hate Vince Russo and everything about him. I don't understand the reason he was even allowed to enter a wrestling building. I bet he's even a bad janitor. He brought nothing but regress. I can get him being hated, a good heel is hated but he was bad at being a heel and was allowed to do so many things a better candidate should of done. He had a Howard Stern wanna mentality mixed with Jerry Springer but with the intelligence of a eggplant 🍆. Ugh.

@@KoolKumasi You're right with all of those names. And Gorgeous George, to an extent, is the originator of the "flamboyant" gimmick that those names and people like Adrian Street, Adrian Adonis, Goldust, etc. took to the extreme. That gimmick has a rich history -- it's not just a "gay stereotype" like the original poster said. Much more complex than that. Most of these dudes were inventing and expanding on a "flamboyant" character that had been done before, yet in real life were legit tough dudes who were also married with kids lol

Those 2 were best friends. Probably closer than HHH & HBK. Goes to show you how if you're close to your co-workers (spec in wrestling), and you keep kayfabe intact, how much better of a product you can make. You can almost tell when 2 guys either don't know each other well or dislike each other in the ring because they're almost hesitant, timing is off and a lot of times you just get the sense they're trying to get through the match or promo just to get out of there. The ones who are close as brothers outside of the business are the ones who get the response of, man these guys really must hate each other!!!
