Just love watching this video, I have it saved. I come in sometimes and pour me a drink and watch a playlist that I have this video in. Just relaxing

Just finished watching this video and have to say that I have finally found someone as obsessed and OCD about their set up and method of tying as myself. I took up fly fishing and tying as a form of therapy after being wounded in combat after four deployments split between Iraq and Afghanistan, and this sport and lifestyle honestly saved my life and prevented me from going down a pretty dark path. Now, it has become my obsession, on the days when I’m physically able I hit the water and fish, on the rough days I sit at the bench and tie. I too find my tying room to be my sanctuary and I now tie daily to ensure that I am always learning and improving, and also keeping my mental and physical health moving in the direction of healing. Anyway brother, thanks for sharing your space and for providing some additional inspiration, I’ll be following along now that I’ve found your channel.

Mike, Thank you for serving and for your kind words on my content. My name is Gregg Flores. This is my channel. I like to feature people like Eli though. If you enjoyed this your, you should watch the story I did on him called “The Simple Fly Tier”. Thanks again, Mike! Oh, and Eli also has his own channel as well. Check it out! -Gregg Flores

Only been tying for 28 years and my wife asks what do you think it costs to tie your own flies ? I had to think about it for a minute,my guess was $200 a fly . Anyone who thinks it’s cheap is wrong , but there’s nothing more rewarding when fishing then catching fish on your own patterns. Long winters in Montana make for great fly patterns. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for watching, Mike! Ya, it ain’t cheaper. But it’s absolutely more rewarding. No doubt!

I know exactly what you're saying about wanting to keep a great material or thread on hand. I had a dubbing the local fly shop, now permanently closed, sold me that was actually sun bleached. I used it for a "hot spot thorax" on stonefly nymphs that made a real steelhead catcher! He had several packs that I passed on before I discovered this. The normal color dubbing just doesn't seem to trigger the fish the same.

Hey Eli are you from Los Lunas. Well I just heard you say that you were an electrician so I know it must be you. I spent the summers there and we even went fishing together once. Maybe abiquiu lake. Pretty sure we slayed em like over 100 fish. Do you recall that. My dad was a plumber and I worked with him on the summers. I have no doubt you know what that’s all about. Anyway I used to love working with your dad and uncle frank. Good people for sure. You may or may not remember my dad. We have the same name Ken Glenn. Anyway just getting into fly fishing. I grew up in az and had a bass boat fished a few tournaments. Well got a divorce and the boat had to go so I got pretty salty and gave up fishing altogether. I live in Oregon now and there is a ton of water running all over the state with tons of salmon trout bass STEELHEAD! Anyway I thought I would take it up again and am wondering if you have a favorite steelhead pattern?

What is UP with the focus this cameraman is messing with? It makes this video SO so difficult to watch.

Apologies TJ! It was a new camera. Hand held. Was kind of a spur of the moment thing and I didn’t have my tripod. I need to reshoot this video. You aren’t the first person to point this out! -Gregg Flores

I could not finish watching this. Whoever is on the camera makes this video unbearable. Get a camera with good auto-focus and look at what your filming. This could have been great content if it was filmed right.
