hey what a lesson for everybody... I was watching it and I can see how important are decision making is for the result... Stay aways in a good position and make good decisions can extend your flight further on... Another point was the fact that an easier glider even with less performance did the job and "win the day"... but this won't matter at all because each one of you did the best flight of the day no matter how far it goes or who reach the declared goal... what really matters is to enjoy the day and the flight... it is crystal clear to me that the best ever is the one that has more fun!!!! Thanks for sharing... namaste

I truly respect you for your sportsmanship. This is not an easy thing.Maybe 30 minutes later or 30 minutes earlier your approach would have flown all the way there and his approach would have not. Maybe both could have worked in an hour. The best thing about this sport is you don't know who's kind of fly or who's going to have to land doesn't matter how long you've been doing it or what race you just won.

Great informative and fun production to wet our appetite to fly xc over the beautiful south downs. Very well done Carlo for completing the course on a B-glider...its the pilot not the wing! I'm definitely entering the next hike and fly on my Atlas purchased from flybubble! :-)

We check weather forecast, organise the day on internet (facebook group, Whatsapp or similar) meet up at a car park close to where people are living. Pack people and paragliders in cars, 3 or 4. Drive to chosen site. Leave a car at landing site. Drive with the car really packed to the take off site. If long distance flying, we share gps location with the flying group when we land, we hitch hike back to the take of site, or if someone can, they pick us up with one of the car. In the evening do everything in reverse, with a mandatory stop at the pub.

what device do you use to record your track, speed and height?
@carloborsattino8815
@carloborsattino8815 2 жыл бұрын
If you mean what devices do we use in general, we use flight instruments made for paragliding like the ones you can see on our website: flybubble.com/instruments
@carloborsattino8815
@carloborsattino8815 2 жыл бұрын
If you mean which specific device we used in this video, each of us was using different paragliding flight instruments on this day e.g. Skytraxx 2.1 FANET+, Syride SYS'Nav V3, Syride SYS'Evolution or the latest Naviter Oudie.

At 10:00 you have your brakes on to the caribiners- I was always taught that was spin/stall territory, but always find I struggle to stay up soaring ridges on my wing. Should I be more confident on my brakes?
@niconico3907
@niconico3907 5 жыл бұрын
You should do a SIV course to know what amount of brake is stall territory on your glider, with your weight. On my wing when thermalling, I always put my inside hand on the carabiner, and adjust turning radius with outside brake. My stall point is at my tight. There is quite a lot of distance between my tigh and my carabiner.

Question for you: You always seem to have sooooo much brake pulled, especially when thermaling. How much is ideal (what am I looking for?) for ___ type of wing? Obv. stalling is too much, but what's the sweet spot?
@niconico3907
@niconico3907 5 жыл бұрын
When thermalling, if the thermal is narrow, you want to slow down the glider, so you turn flatter for the same radius. If you are flatter, you loose less vertical height in the rising air, so its more efficient, you go up faster. Imagine if you try to turn tight full speed, the wing will be completely on the side, and you would loose a lot of height. Of course you dont want to spin your wing.
