This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Quincy is six years old. She has been surfing and skating since she was four. She is not only one of the best 6 year old surfers & skaters on the planet - she is beautiful kid with a spirit that needs to be seen to be believed.
At six, Quincy Symonds is already tipped as a future Layne Beachley or Stephanie Gilmore. They call her The Flying Squirrel. She may well be the best six-year-old surfer and skater on the planet. Prepare to be gobsmacked.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Amazing. Two important things: Addison's is serious...overcoming the obstacles having parents who are this responsive and responsible, is the most important factor for a child to thrive and not just survive with this lifelong and sometimes life-threatening disease. Quincy has found her keys to success...building her muscles with surfing and body-conditioning is impressive; and her condition being managed successfully with her parents on board.

A conscious choice to create a child is a choice I was not even aware people made till 20 years ago. The difference in a child created completely out of love and intention is a true miracle of a difference I didn't even know existed. So healing for me to witness these parents and how much they support and love there little girl. Spending time with her is so critical to the success of this little girls life. Truly a lost art in most of today's families.

I agree, you mean most people do it out of societal pressure?
