For a pre-trained model yeah, 50 million parameter-equivalent (since you go by synapse count, not neurons) is low. But for something that’s undergoing continuous runtime training? RNN counts aren’t usually this high, AFAIK. A human adult is about 700,000 this many neurons and synapses, typically.

If this isn't evidence of a Designer, I don't know what is. And to think, there are gnats that are much smaller than a fruit fly with even tinier brains! The more we learn about the amazing world around us, the more amazed i am at the creativity of God.

How is this evidence of a creator? Who created your creator? After all they are a complex being. Had to have been created by something superior.
@jeffgough2 ай бұрын
@@brimstonepyro1019The God of the Bible is immaterial and timeless. Which would make sense, if this God put space, time, and matter into existence, he couldn’t have already been bound by them; he would have had to come before. And if he is eternal, then he requires no creator, he simply always was. For the atheistic worldview, this is a genuine problem though. I presume you hold space and time always existed (or popped into existence by some other caused cause)? And nitrogen and oxygen and carbon and other essential building blocks just always existed? It’s harder for me to believe nitrogen has always been there than a spaceless, immaterial, eternal being has always been there. Especially as we have some accounts of this being revealing himself and it does explanatory work for how mutations (which are virtually always detrimental to an organism) could have somehow led to order and great complexity and the appearance of design. Even Dawkins agrees the universe has the appearance of being designed. And the more we learn about genetics, the more we see it is like the programming of a software designer and not the result of continual accidents over time.

@@brimstonepyro1019that's what you (a being confined to a set of laws of physics) think of god (a being not defined by those laws)
A verse in the Quran mentions a fly and the inability of other gods to create it is verse 22:73 of chapter 22, sūrat l-ḥaj (The Pilgrimage): O humanity! A lesson is set forth, so listen to it ˹carefully˺: those ˹idols˺ you invoke besides God can never create ˹so much as˺ a fly, even if they ˹all˺ were to come together for that. And if a fly were to snatch anything away from them, they cannot ˹even˺ retrieve it from the fly.

This comment is almost too stupid to respond to, but what the heck - You didn't bother to actually read anything about this project, did you? The Flywire consortium was started by a Princeton based team, but led by neuroscientists Dr. Mala Murthy (Indian origin), and Dr. Sebastian Seung (Korean origin). Of course their research has nothing to do with where they come from, but their hard work, intelligence etc. But anyways, you can take those 'westerner's' balls out of your mouth now lol

Brains are the product of evolution. They were not “created” by some imaginary being (or beings, depending on the particular religious viewpoint). I write as a retired scientist who worked on a number of novel Drosophila melanogaster genes (including some brain genes) and their mouse and human homologues.
