Additional IMPORTANT strategies for this tactic 1.) Get rid of bad and mid staffs ASAP. a little money sacrifices (termination and higher wage) but u wanna prioritize the best medic staff at least because of the tactic intensity 2.) GOOD ROTATION STRATEGY, is needed. That is the one lacking if we play simulate matches because the AI is stupid when it comes to player rotation. Always doing full rotation in domestic cup, with academy player sitting on the bench, so the main team can be fully rested for next weekend. This is also the reason that's quite hard to win domestic cup at the beginning of the saves, like Ichsan did with Sporting 3) Use individual training to maximize player's familiarity of his role, prioritize that over attributes development. Eventually if your player playing good week in week out, because of maximum tactical familiarity, he will happy and still develop the ability anyway

this is my FM problem. i play the game for 24 years (since championship manager 00/01) but something i never had much patience was tactics. I use the formation a lot, usually with a ball playing midfielder and a advanced playmaker in the middle, usually controlling the ball or tiki taka. But I focus mostly on finding wonderkids and have very good prospects from all over the world, where i take my time to develop them and make the team stronger. I love finding good players from unlikely countries, I spend hours checking national teams and other clubs. Also even in the attributes I don't care that much besides 4 or 5, I tend to see the stars and mostly the scout feedback. So I can see myself winning the premier league with wolves in like 3 seasons. Only once at stoke I managed to win the premier league in the first season, pretty much with the players the team had. My focus has been mostly developing small clubs all over europe, instead of being a tactic pro which I definitely should have trained. Probably one day I'll try to win a premier league with a smaller club again, I still to this day don't know how I done it with stoke, and it was fm 09/10 or something. How on earth this guy has been playing the game for so little.... I mean I never played an fm version since 21, which is the one I play now. The adaptation of the tactics to the attributes of each player was very smart.

I think this highlights why a full rework of tactics is necessary. It doesn't make sense that tackle harder and having max intensity tactics is the standard to win. The penalty for these is not high enough. they should be used only in certain scenarios, and with very high risk. Also when you mentioned the width on defending as "narrow" that's not correct, the narrow option is on the "in possession" tab, should not affect your defending. I really don't think there should be so many individual instructions, it only makes the game engine more complicated and easier to break/overpower. The player role and the team tactics should be more than enough.
@Chengyuan7928 күн бұрын
ermm, just FYI, "Tackle Harder" has been the winning formula since ... CM99? 😅 I mean, I stopped at FM06, restarted at FM20 (and only because it's free), and I "Tackled Harder" again. Still works. 😅 FM has always been about figuring out/breaking the game engine eventually. Because, at the end of the day, it's still just a simulation game.
@DuncanB197228 күн бұрын
Agree about tackle harder. I was part of a bug report first flagged in 2022 and it is still running, it was clear that the game didn't distribute yellow cards as it should in that I could play with stay on feet and the AI would kick chunks out of me and Id get more yellows. Opponents could accumulate over 30 fouls to my 8 and the yellow card distribution would be even, and at times Id have more, quite frequently the opponent would have none. We know SI balance the game so things like number of cards (and other things) mirror real life statistics and it was clear that distribution of yellow cards was unrealistic and not down to what happened in game but was balanced as per the numbers they feel are realistic. Of course despite a lot of evidence including our own card counts not rising when we used aggressive tackling this was said not to be an issue. So yes it needs a rework as currently as you have mentioned, Ive seen and the guy here said there is no downside to using them.

His tactic looks a lot like Ten Hag his tactic at Ajax, especially compared to how it was remade by this swedish guy for football manager 2019. It had the two ballplaying defenders, Blind and De Ligt behind Lasse Schone (playing in defensive midfield) and Frenkie de Jong. It also reminds me a bit of a remake of a Pellagrini tactic for Football manager 2014. That was a 4-4-2 also based around what the tactic maker described as "interiores" as used in South America a lot. In that tactic one of the two inside forwards was an advanced playmaker that would tuck in and roam around. Upfront there was a Trequarista and a Complete Forward but I often found that a target forward would also work well (maybe to hold the ball)

I had only ever played manager career mode in FIFA. FIFA 11 through EA FC 24. And then I discovered FM 2 months back. Started my first save on 24th Sept. So about 50 days in, my save says I have spent 15days into it (30%). I can't just stop playing FM. I now regret playing Fifa for all those years. Another huge percentage of time has gone watching Zealand's videos. Tried this tactic out in my first save with Colchester in L2 and it is a beast. The intensity was too much for my players and i was littered with injured players. So I modified it from GenGen to a Possession based tactic, then made some tweaks to reduce the intensity and also removed all those take more risk settings. I managed to top L2, then L1, and now 10 games in championship, i am at the top. My wage budget is the bottom in the league at 190k/w (after converting all the transfer budget to wages and thriving of free agents). Everton at the other end of the spectrum is spending 2.5M/w 😂. My only regret has been delegating some of the contract negotiations to a high negotiation stat staff. They ended up agreeing to a 25% promotion wage rise clause for many players which has come back to bite me with every promotion. Now I do all negotiations myself.

Damn, I have a similar story to share ... playing CM since 1997 (Blackburn guy here), stopped at FM06, came back at FM20 (because it's free). Preferred to make my own Tactics all the time, but somehow came up with very similar conclusions with the WC winner. Shared a few within comments here, but guess I can summarise here too, my insights from decades of playing - *. 4231 has become the meta since FM20. I designed my own 4411 (because of a 1998 UEFA technical report, and then later what Sir Alex Ferguson said), but it's a 4231 when attacking anyway. *shrugs ... In defence, I would have 9 men behind. 1. Tackle Harder worked since CM99. More yellows and the occasional red is fine when you ended up winning at the end of the season. 2. Go Attacking from the start. Go High Intensity too. If you are the weaker team (esp Away), still do this for the first ~15-20 minutes. Unless they have CR7 or Messi at their prime, you basically have a blow to blow fight because the opposition didnt expect attacks from an inferior opponent. If you scored 1 or even 2, close shop (and stay Cautious for counter-attacks) and lower Intensity and Time Wasting. And KEEP THE OTHER INSTRUCTIONS. 3. If you just want to win and forgo style, Playing for Set Pieces is the way to go. When my team got stronger, I off-ed this though. 4. Two BPDefenders are fine for me in FM20. It does depend on the attributes of the player, so that we dont choose the wrong player role combination too. 5. Run at Defenders all the way please. It might be a FM20 thingy, but I noted that the Dribbling attribute tend to be damn high for ... almost everyone. Given that we go for Pace-y players all the time, this is just a deadly combo. You got past your marker, you got lots of space. My other instructions are different, but that is simply my preferences. Yes, I guess I figured out much of the meta, but I just want to play my own way and win, even if it's against the meta. Basically, I Play Through the Middle, Attacking Slightly Narrow despite having wingers (of which the game engine would make the WBs occupy the wide spaces like everyone else does). And, oh, I made my Home pitch Narrow too. LOL~! Finally, I have an old-school Low Press instead, which funnily made the team a defensive one inviting pressure by default. A defensive team which scores 100+ goals a season. And remember, I did this by going AGAINST the meta. 😅

I've been using a variation of this with many of the same principles using a 4-2-2-2 with 2 attacking midfielders and two strikers instead of the 2 wingers. It has been working like a charm. I added in a couple things from the video and its working even better.

This tactic is OP. I downloaded maybe a week ago and literally you will absolutely wreck everyone in your league with only a decent team. Especially lower leagues. You will kill everyone in the lower leagues lol. For an example, I did a youth only save in wales, dropped all my players after the first season, and started my way in the JD premier with just the YA. We came mid table despite being "up against it" every single match... it is OP. My 6 CA striker was doing very well when he had no business doing so. Another example, Started in Gibraltar with awful Europa point FC. Ran the league and only lost twice..and those were the last 2 games after I already clinched the league title. I was losing players along the way and not replacing them and still doing well. It kinda makes things a bit too easy.

To be fair, the tactics creators on FM Arena do have their own justifications on why they choose these instructions and roles for their tactics... even if 95% of the time it's nothing but "the match engine favors it" 😂

btw I just got promoted to the Premier League with mighty Oxford United after only two seasons. I was like:"Help! I'll be slaughtered". I'm giving this tactic a go though. I put my whole summer window in the service of this tactic. The players are going to have to train until they puke to pull it off but I've already beaten two Premier League teams. I'm going to try to play Coady in defensive midfield in case Brannagan doesn't work out or needs a rest. Wish me luck and thanks for the video.

That 4-2-3-1 is insane. I literally took a bottom of the barrel team in the Korean 2nd division, England League 1, and Japan J3 team to at least promotion playoffs in the first season. EDIT: One thing I wanted to mention is that I actually don't dislike double BPD, with two DMs, either DLP or DM on support. This is because you form a 2-2 box in defense, with the fullbacks up and wide to draw the wingers. You end up in a 4 v 2, and if the opponent's midfield commits to the press, the AM on roam from position and move into channels can move into space to receive a fast ground pass to feet. Almost all of my tactics used this sort of box midfield and took advantage of move into channels to get the ball up the field, especially with my narrow formations.

It's a little disappointing that most/all of the players at the FM World Cup were using the same exploit-meta tactics that let people get 10 invincible seasons in a row. Not sure how they would prevent them using this stuff, but it takes away from the competitive aspect a bit.
@DuncanB197228 күн бұрын
@@Ed_Boron Agree, I suppose they have no choice as even if they wanted to play differently the others who use meta tactics would roll all over them. Even in the FifaE tournaments Fifa players would use a variety of different tactics, which is probably why FM isnt suited as an eSport as there is no skill gap as you'd find with Fifa or EAFC, which further reinforces FMs unsuitability as Fifa/EAFC has been criticised for a lack of skill gap due to claimed scripting mechanics but that doesn't prevent the top players utilising a range of formations and instructions. Perhaps in future tournaments players would have to play non-meta formations in each round to mix it up as sure they could use things like lots of pressing and hard tackling but they are far less effective in non 4231 formations. Eg- Round 1 3 atb, round 2 433 etc, or just ban 4231. Either way its the games fault and not the players who really don't have much choice if they want to have a chance of winning.

I’ve used it for 12 games in my AFC Crewe save where I’m in my first season in League One and it’s insane. I’m battering teams 5-1, 6-1 etc and currently sit top. I’ve had 2 defeats where in one game I’ve absolutely mullered them with an insane XG but failed to score and they scored in injury time. The other well something didn’t click and I got pumped 4-1, a red card didn’t help but we’re already 3-1 down. Had a couple of games like I said where I’ve had crazy XG but just can’t score and end up drawing 0-0 or 1-1. I am league one so I guess with better strikers I would probably had won those. All in all a great tactic.
