One of my favourite scenes - even tho nothing really happens it sets the tone for what’s to come later. Sun is shining and the music sets you at ease. Later on - complete opposite, when you see the fog rolling down the massive staircase. This is Carpenters unsung masterpiece imo.

Yeah, but even here, there is something about it that's somewhat "beyond". It's a wild and windswept area. All very isolated. Something about being out on the edges of everything.

Her driving up to the lighthouse and walk down the stairs. One of the most peaceful scenes.

this scene actually features some lovely camera work. Carpenter has not really been revered as an image composer but he is in fact quite gifted. If you pay close attention to what the camera's doing here, it's very simple and elegant, the slow zooms in, the soft tracking, each cut ending with Adrienne walking or driving away from the camera, at that start of the sequence becoming diminished, smaller, deeper into the frame. It signifies and magnifies the sense of isolation. Quite subtle. He was very good at this kind of "invisible" storytelling, in his earlier works at least. And the camera's very slow, which "cools" the tempo, letting the slightly eerie, windswept minimalism of these cuts bleed in at the edges of the audience attention. Really quite nice. A technical competence in using the camera to say things - that has become unfashionable in recent times.

My husband and I Honeymooned in Inverness,Point Reyes, Olema area. Absolutely beautiful! We also visited Bodega, and Bodega Bay. I chose these spots, because of this movie and the Birds, but not because I like horror movies, but because the locatins are gorgeous! One thing to note, driving up to the Lighthouse is not possible. It's a long steep climb up to it. I thought I was going to die!😂😂😂 it's a real leg workout!

The priest pictured in the film was not a Roman Catholic priest but an Anglican/Episcopalian priest. So was his grandfather. They are allowed to marry.

Why do the Americans always have to drive on the wrong side of the road
@LRho3 ай бұрын
Hmmm maybe because the first car was made in Germany where they also drive on the right? No worries though, every other country that drives on the left is mostly a former British colony. What a legacy! 😂
