People slagging of Diamond Dave's vocals are sadly missing the point! He has never been just about vocals (regardless of his age now). It is his unpredictability, story telling, martial arts moves and charisma etc that has made him so watchable as a front man over the years! Saw his DLR band in 88 with Vai and it still ranks in my top 3 gigs of all time! Fantastic entertainment (coupled with brilliant VH hits) and fun not to mentioned superb guitar playing (Vai) and drumming with (Bissonette) and put a smile on everyone's face! just like now all these years later. Look at the rest of the band's faces. It is of kids in sweet shop! Legendary rock front man right there! Its all Pizza baby!

yep, on on board for ole Diamond Dave! (now the caveat) EVEN THOUGH, and aside from other probably more significant critiques which may apply, he (courageously and out of hair-loss necessity) broke a popular taboo that i have kind of complained about over the years: rockers with haircuts ( I am 50 so growing up with long hair rock - from woodstock to glam rock - is kind of engrained)... whatever, my two cents.

I agree with Jag- Dave Grohl is a one of a kind that has no insecurities. If the ones that remember or will acknowledge with the release of 'Van Halen 1980 first LP' on February 10th how the 8-track was completely the shit... I saw them live in Shreveport LA in 1979 as the 3rd or first act in front of Journey and Mahogany Rush. After Van Halen opened the show Frank Mahogany refused to play citing Eddie V had stole his licks. Mr. Dave Grohl honors the 'once' most popular bands or game changer bands and I respect him for it.

And to be I the same stage with this man is a historic all event. He’s older. No denying that. Yup and still crazy - but that’s what we loved and still love about him. Foo Fighters amazing.... and they must be enjoying this moment. Van Halen would not have been the same without Roth , his voice in early years was powerful and the vocals that made it ROCK!

I love the Foo Fighters and I think Everlong is a masterpiece. Not only is Dave Grohl a brilliant drummer, but he's seriously underrated as a guitarist. That being said, there are three (3) guitarists on stage, a bass player, a keyboard player and a drummer, yet they still can't keep up with the three guys from Van Halen. Listening to this, I really miss Eddie's playing.

Rock n roll is attitude.. you make think otherwise.. but Dave like many others could be told he would never make it.. the list is long., Bon jovi, spoke those same words.. you have to ignore your critics and go out there like a Lion and sing do everything to maintain your edge.. Dave kicked ass from the 70s 80s sure never a great singer compared to some... but a brilliant ideal to be a Rock roll Legend Dave has conquered... Before you critic him.. he has been to the edge and smiled while everyone bashes him.. he has been there done it Rock n roll isnt all about being perfect... like Punk rock its attitude something Modern Music has no ideal about......... enjoy this kind of stuff its not very common now days Dave grohl is a awesome guy him self... having fun with his Heroes he understands these guys......I love this... all of the perfromances was great...

+Dave Rowelet very....very...well said!!! he was a much a reason for van halens success as eddie was....his style his strut his attitude and his vision.
@chrismueller21349 жыл бұрын
+Dave Rowelet Agreed. David Lee Roth wasn't the best singer by far in the 80's... but he had the bravado plus his vocals were pretty darned good. Along with Eddie's guitar, it made an unbeatable combination. That's one side of the coin, however, Roth's chops (at least for me) have gotten to the point of not even entertaining. Sure, he's got moxie to get out on stage and strut his stuff still (which is a whole hellava lot more than I could ever do), but all I can think about is... "poor David Lee Roth tryin' to relive the glory days... he needs to step down". Sorry, just my opinion.
@WinkLinkletter8 жыл бұрын
+Dave Rowelet You can witness said attitude from the moment Dave "takes" the stage. A genuine rock icon, he is magnetic and commands attention. Love it, we all want to be that confident and self-assured and seeing him as a kid surely put some swagger in my little 14 year old step. Cool.
