If JJ had directed the entire trilogy, little would have changed. Episode 7 is where problems started, this movie undid all the achievements of previous films and gave us terrible characters, not to mention the cowardice of hiding Luke. JJ destroys everything he touches, while Rian Johnson is Kathleen Kennedy's puppy who does everything she says.

Félix A.G : Why don’t people realize that JJ told Rian Johnson what he wanted in Episode 7? I mean JJ directed Farce Awakens, but he didn’t tell Rian Johnson “surprise me with your script for 7.” JJ was the show runner, and it was in fact Lucas who wanted Palpatine to return as the surprise villain. Nobody else really wanted that, and George Lucas began getting angry and did the whole “white slavers” bit and said Disney was not following the story he wanted. I mean, I don’t want to feel sorry for JJ, but he was torn between what Disney wanted, what Lucas wanted, and what he wanted, and in the end JJ just screwed everything up. I mean JJ got Han, Luke, and Leia back, and he didn’t have a scene with them together. How stupid can you get?!? I’m glad Spielberg is backing out of the new Indiana Jones movie.

@@faisalmemon285 What are you even basing this on. George Lucas has said his sequel trilogy would have had Darth Maul and his new apprentice as the villain. Not the Emperor. He's also repeatedly said before Episode 9 came out that the Emperor died in Episode 6 and isn't coming back.

@@vegeta1885 Why do people believe that Lucas’s trilogy would’ve been great. He already admitted that he wanted a disillusioned Luke Skywalker and an apprentice to bring him back. Maybe when he dies all the secrets will come out that Lucas wanted Palpatine to be the surprise bad guy. Search for that KZbin interview of Daisy Ridley in which she said JJ asked her what she thought of Palpatine retuning to be the bad guy or the other alternative (which I can’t remember). You can read between the lines in that interview who really wanted Palpatine to come back. For some reason Lucas really likes the concept of cloning in sci-fi.

@@darkninja2772 Do you have proof of that? If you look at the concept art for episode 9 and the supposed leaked script it pretty much followed-up Rian's story to the teeth. Luke would have had a more prominent role now that he was free of his earthly form, the true villains of the sequels aka Kylo & Hux would have taken center stage, while our 4 heroes Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose would have fulfilled their roles as rebels.

The Last Jedi is terrible but Rian Johnson actually did hint at what the sequel trilogy should have been about: the failure of the Jedi Order. We needed to see a “Jedi reformation” led by a force wielding Martin Luther. Juxtapose that with an Imperial remnant bent on revenge and how the New Republic deals with treating an enemy when the reigns of power are reversed and you’d have an awesome trilogy.
